Has anyone had success consistently taking down phantoms with soontir?

Negative so far. I more so have been on the delivering end of a pilot skill 9 whisper and am currently at 97 points so I just give the Baron initiative. Now VI Engine Upgrade Vader and Han with VI and gunner has proved to be far more of a thorn in my side than anything else.

You want the phantom to have initiative if you're playing baron. With him and the phantom, whoever moves last is going to win that. Eventually your reds will get through 4 greens, especially if you get some range 1s or target lock with computer + focus. Problem is this essentially makes the baron cost EVEN more when you add the initiative bid, since whisper will be 97-98 pts likely (and even then it might not work). Phantoms are ridiculous enough to essentially cost 40-45 points and get away with it. I'm not sure if baron is worth 35ish when falcons are so big in the meta. But there are worse ideas for dealing with phantoms.

How does that Vader with VI and EU works afterwards. Not so well i guess for the point cost right ?

Soontir was a little predictable for me, so to balance out my own PS9 ACD Whisper, I use Turr Phennir with Vet Instincts.

He. Is. Awesome.

Basically I'm covering two bases with the PS bid; Turr wants it and Whisper doesn't. So! Any Phantom usually gives it away, and then I use Turr to face it head-on. Move into position, either with a Focus or a movement action, wait, shoot first, and then dodge out of arc (or, worst case, barrel roll back to Range 3). It usually isn't impossible to guess where the Phantom will decloak, or at least where it will want to go, so I point Turr in that general direction and wait. If I can't dodge, I'll hang onto the Focus token for defense, but so far he has been incredibly useful, and you can't beat him for 26 points.

And, if I don't wind up with initiative, Whisper and Turr both have the power to move last, and I won't complain there!
