Question about Force Talent Trees

By Hysteria, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I've got a question about the Force Power Trees and when power upgrades are available. When a power upgrade is connected to two previous power upgrades, do I need to have purchased both of them, or just one?

For instance, the Influence Force Power Tree has the Control Upgrade that lets a player make an Influence Power Check as part of his dice pool. that is connected to a Range Upgrade and a Magnitude Upgrade. Do I need to pick up both the Range and Magnitude Upgrades, or do I only need to pick up one?

In the same vein, the Move Force Power Tree has the Control Upgrade which lets you Force Hurl an object. That has two Range Upgrades that lead to it. Do I need to purchase both Range Upgrades or just one?

According to the rules as written, it would seem like you only need one, but I know I've heard somewhere that both upgrades needed to be purchased, so I'm not sure if there's a rule I've overlooked.

1.

Thanks!

NP, enjoy.

Nope, you only have to purchase the upgrades that you want to purchase.

In the case of Move, you only need to buy one of the two Range Upgrades in Row 2 in order to purchase the "hurl objects" Control Upgrade.

In that respect, they're very much like the talent trees for a specialization. In many cases, you can take multiple paths to different talents within the tree, with the only requirement that you've purchased at least one of the talents/upgrades that connects to the talent/upgrade you want to purchase.
