just a question about the summer tournament kit prizes

By Krynn007, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Our lgs has received a tournament kit.

I'm pretty excited because they means I don't have to drive far,but we were wondering how the prizes for this get dealt out.

For example does first and second place get both the acrylic piecs, and a biggs alt art card.

There is only two biggs alt art card that comes with it.

Or would the biggs alt card go to third and fourth

To be honest I think I'd rather the biggs alt art card.

Or maybe it tells you somewhere in the kit

I would think it would go by number of items. If there are 4 promos of the same type, top 4 get them. If there are 2 acrylic packs, top 2 get them. 24 alt art card give out to top 24 and so on...

Ultimately probably up to the T.O.

Well there are two sets of acrylic tokens.

2 alt biggs cards

Then your 16 alt tie fighter cards

So what I'm wondering

Does top two get a set of tokens and a biggs cards?

If so then nothing for third or fourth?

I guess it's up the TO then. I would probably do the following...

Top 2: Acrylics

#3 - 4: Biggs

Top 16: Alt TIE cards.

Or you could flip-flop the acrylics and Biggs.

Ya.

Well its our first event here.

My cousin volunteer to be the TO.

We want to keep to the rules and the rules state that a TO cannot play unless there is another TO.

But there maybe only 3 of us. Can't see more than 8 if some from away come over.

I was going to TO, but my cousin felt that since I'm a better player I should play. But I also would like for him to play. Especially if we only have 3 or 4

Maybe have the top two pic?

Honestly I don't know which I would want more

The collector in me says biggs card. Plus it would see more use, but acrylic tokens are nice

We don't know if it says in the kit what prizes goes to which place, but I don't think it does

There is no right or wrong way I would think. And if it's only 3 or 4 of you, then I think you guys can come to an agreement as to who gets what amongst yourselves... Good luck!

It is entirely up to the TO how to do it. There are no formal guidelines from FFG.

The way I normally do mine is to separate things into piles... Usually a pile would be one of the unique cards, 3 or 4 of the non unique cards, or some number of the tokens based on how many come in he pack. Then you go down he list and let each player pick a pile, in order. If you have a small group you can turn it over and take multiple passes.

But really, just do it however you want.

Ultimately probably up to the T.O.

Basically this. In our tournament today, everyone got an Academy Pilot card. First place got the medal and a Biggs card. Second place got the other Biggs card. Highest ranked Imperial and Rebel squads (other than the winner) got a set of tokens. The card boxes were random prizes for people who didn't win anything else. I think the winner, top Rebel and top Imperial also got store credit.

I would have thrown the last round if I had known that was how to get the tokens!

You can offer a choice of all four, starting with the 1st place and go all the way down to 4th. That way 1st gets to pick either the acrylic or the card and 4th gets whatever is left over.

For a small group under 4 players, 1st would get second pick of the remaining items.

Ok cool

We were just wondering if there was a specific way

If not we figured go by first picks and so on which I think is how we will do things.

I hope we get a few turn out for it.

We usually have to travel because there was no tournament in our area. We live on the east coast of Canada, and on an island. Only two ways off and cheapest is the bridge which costs 45 bucks.

We hope maybe some may come from across where we usually go, but are doubtful. Seeing as they have a large game group and don't have to travel for their tournament. But maybe they will come here just because.

Well if not we will go ahead with whatever numbers show.

Only thing we are trying to figure out now is who to get as a second TO so my cousin can play. Especially if we only have 2 or three.

I guess if it's just us few it won't matter, but we just want to keep it as strict to the rules as possible incase others do spectate or something.

Thanks for the info guys and gals

you could probably make the case that if there is only like 2 or 3 of you, the TO can play even if there isn't a backup. I think that rule is meant for events with a larger attendance. With 4 players, there is only 1 other table the TO would need to make a rules call on... ;)

If you're keen to spread out prizes, why not give top 2 the choice.

Lay out the Biggs cards and the tokens.

Top player takes 1 of their choosing, then 2nd, 3rd and then 4th. That way top player doesn't get the tokens if he'd/she'd much prefer the Biggs card.

Then dish out Tie pilots to top 16.

That is probably what we will do

I think I'd rather the biggs cards.

If you had a choice what would you choose?

But then again I don't know which is rather

If its a small group why not designate multiple mini-TO's for rule discrepancies.

So a TO that overlooks the whole tournament. Then a TO2, when the TO plays a game. And finally a TO3 when TO and TO2 play a game.

Planning it this way allows the tournament to accomodate a possibilty for more players.
