Eldar Death Spinner

By Lachi, in Rogue Trader Rules Questions

Dear Traders!

Preparing an Eldar encounter I stumbled across an 'irregularity': The Eldar Death Spinner profile form Into the Strom and the Koronus Bestiary are completely different:

Into the Storm: 40m, S/-/-, 4D+5, Pen 2, Clip 30, Blast (2), Tearing, Reliable

Bestiary: 30m, S/3/-, 2D+8, Pen 0, Clip 20, Blast (1), Reliable.

Any suggestions which one to use? Or are there any rule clarifications on this issue? Personally, I'do go with the Bestiary profile as the Strom profile would end up with happy Eldar and my group as a reddish, mushy mess.

Thanks

Daniel

Actually Lachi, there are a lot of inconsistencies when it comes to equipment in one book and comparing it to another similar named item in a different book. IMO, there is nothing wrong with this. Simply add something to the name of one item and call it day. For example, there are countless versions of Bolt and Las Weapons, each unique in their own right. By simply adding where it was created (Footfall, Folke, etc etc) or it's pattern (Mark 2 [Mk], Mk 3k, Mk 7, Mk 101, etc etc) clarifies the change in the profile, trait, and/or characteristics of the weapon.

So, in your case, simply choose what you think is best, and say one is made by a Corsair group while the other is made by a Craftworld group. Problem solved. Happy gaming.

I also found the different profils for the same weapon depending on its pattenor mark which, of course, makes absolutely sense to me. However, this time I was surprised by the large deviation...

I think in this case I will handle it as follows: The weaker profle from the Bestiary is for the standard Warp Spiders whereas the more powerful version from Into the Storm will be the Exarch's weapon...

I note the Bestiary version can semi-auto fire whereas the ITS one is single shot only. Three hits at 2d10+8 will mince a character quite nicely. They're both pretty brutal.

To answer the question, you're the GM. Use whichever profile best pleases you or will make for the most entertaining game.

Cheers,
