New player with questions on Revised 4th Edition

By rythos, in Talisman

New player here with a few questions:

1. Pit Fiends Space - I understand there are d6 monsters here that need to be killed before the player can advance, however I'm unsure of how the encounter occurs. Does the player (say they rolled 3 fiends) Fight the fiends one at a time until he destoys all three or loses an encounter, takes a life damage, and then that turn is over. He would then spend the next turn fighting the remaining fiends. Is that correct? This is how we have been handling it, and i wanted to make sure this is right.

2. I'll preface this by saying that most of our games are two player games so this might be causing our problem, but it seems that craft based players do well until the Crown of Command space. If a strength based character can reach the Crown of Command space as well and encounter the craft based player the strength based player seems to always win (unless the craft based player happens to be one that can use psychic combat) Any thoughts?

We are hooked on this game and seem to be playing 2-3 time a week at least :)

Thanks for the help!

Matt

1) You're playing it correctly :-)

2) The craft based player can do harm at distance with the spells..well if you draw the good ones ( i.e random etc..). Otherwise i have no thoughts about this since it had never bothered me in my games (but i never play talisman with two players..too boring !)

Welcome to this wonderfull world of randomness and chaos :-)

2) I have found the same problem. Sorta sucks, but there's nothing you can do about it.

For Pit Fiends, how is a tie handled? We've been playing it as a win for the character. Do you all play that it ends the turn and the char has to refight that fiend next turn?

Thanks!

Yes.

For those rare occasions, yes. Seems Crafters come packing 8-9 (or more) Strength most of the time around here. If not actual Str, then at least effective battle Strength.
