There are finally a number of fun comos in this game. For the longest time there was little synergy between Pilot abilities and upgrades.
Today I tried a list based on some of these combos.
Tarn Mison with R7
He's a great endgame piece, and really screws with guys target lock focused attackers.
Hobbie with Stressbot(R3-A2)
Stress is fantastic. Hobbie and Stressbot work fantastically well together, hamstringing ships and messing with Phantoms and Interceptors like nobodies business.
Roark Garnett
Ion Cannon
Recon Specialist
Roark combos well with Hobbies Stress in that he makes messing with Phantoms a lot easier, and Ions are always handy.
Airen Cracken with Swarm Tactics.
Not just on PS12 pilot, but two. Getting to shoot and pass an action at PS12 is frankly amazing. Even if Hobbie gets blocked he gets his target lock.
I debated dropping Recon for a Flechette on Hobbie, but decided I like the extra defense offered more. Further tests could change my mind. Roark did not live long in the first game, but a pair of criticals on round one of ffire did not help his case.
I have an Epic list built along these lines, with things like R7T1 on Dutch, and a host of other fun support craft. If I ever manage an Epic game I'll have to try it out further.
