So I bring this up because if they made a grid based X-wing game for ios, I feel like this would be the perfect system for it.

I would so play an Xwing miniatures app.

I've played ace patrol extensively on my iPad. It is virtually a direct virtual copy of wings of war/glory, which x-wing was based on, so yeah, it would make a fantastic base for a digital x-wing.

im worried if they make a game (which i would of course play) you'd have to use your proofs of purchase from actual ships to unlock them w/ the cards that come with each expansion.. or buy the digital expansions if you didn't have proofs / much like mtg online. If you couldn't tell.. i always throw all mine away..

I'm guessing they don't want to make a game because it might detract attention from the table top game. Why games workshop has not released a full warhammer onlline table top game (could be just like total war samurai 2 online version) is in the same boat.

you know sigh.. What i really want is a newer online version of x wing vs tie fighter. I mean come on!!! it's been like 15 years since the last one... and it would be an instant hit! It'd be the new counter strike in space ships.

you get to pick your ship / each round you have so many credits to upgrade your lasers or sheilds / hull or engines. you get credits for killing enemies or capturing the flag. next round starts. no one has an advantage like rpgs with lvls or exp just plain old my pew pew skills against your pew pew.

The reviewer did had beefs with some issues with campaign, but I think this game still would be a great template and format for it. It has a good pace for x-wing and I really think it would be perfect.
