"When a ship executes a maneuver in which either maneuver template or the ship's base physically overlaps an obstacle token, follow these steps:
1 perform the maneuver as usual but skip the "perform action step"
2. the player rolls 1 attack die .... etc
So, in a situation where a player moves onto an asteroid in one turn, if in the following turn the movement template for their next move still overlaps the asteroid when they attempt to move off it, does the same effect happen again?
By way of an example imagine a situation where a ship overlaps the big asteroid more or less head on - regardless of which move you select on your next turn, your template would still overlap.
The letter of the law seems to state that it would but I'm sure I've seen it played where moving off an asteroid does not count as a second potential collision - but since then I can't find where it was that I found that rule clarified.
Next question:
If my attack is blocked by more than one asteroid - does the defender roll an extra defence dice for each asteroid - while not stating this explicitly the rules seem to state that this is not the case, and only one extra dice is given regardless of the number of obstacles.
(I gave my mate the benefit of the doubt with this one this afternoon - and still took two shields off his cloaked Phantom at range three, through two asteroids, with only my Y wing's primary weapon - 2 red vs 7 green ...... stitch that!!)
Finally.
at what point can you call upon R7 to force rerolls on attack dice?
I've been playing it so far that R7 can only force a reroll on the natural / unmodified roll that the attacker makes - seems a bit unfair for the attacker to spend a target lock and focus to line up a bunch of hits only then to have me make them reroll the whole lot.
