By Kilazar, in Talisman Rules Questions

When a monster is on a "draw X card(s)" space and a character lands on it. Does the character get to encounter the space after defeating the monster?

When a minstrel has a follower like the Bear Encounter card, and the steal follower spell is used on it. Is it still a follower under it's new owner?

When you land on the city and encounter the space, can you encounter the alchemist even if you have no items to convert. To avoid the possible toad roll on the enchantress?

1. Nope

2. Cards that normally aren't followers but become followers can't be taken by other chara

3. Nope

When you play for your second time, make sure to have printed the current FAQ 1.1 . Many questions can be answered with the FAQ.

The new Encounter Sequence is the right way to understand how to encounter spaces. The other 2 questions are addressed by rules (Cards that become Followers) or specific FAQ entries (City).

So does that mean you can't "mesmerize" (I think that ist he spell) a gnomes axe that was turned into a follower? That is a **** shame.

Ok so just to make sure I am reading this right. In my above example we just did it out of order. It should have been, move to space, draw cards up to the spaces card value (draw 2 with a wolf already in place, so only one card gets drawn). Then resolve cards by encounter number?

Where as in the original rules it made it sound like you fight existing cards first, then you encounter the space. But worded in a vague way.

Here's the full encounter sequence:

1. Draw cards up to the value required if instructed.

2. Encounter #1 cards in order drawn.

3. Encounter #2 cards in a single battle.

4. Encounter #3 cards in a single psychic combat.

5. Encounter #4 cards in order drawn.

6. Encounter #5 cards and gold pieces.

7. Encounter #6 cards in order drawn.

8. Encounter space instructions.

a) If you move to another space, stop the sequence and encounter the new space in the same way. Don't encounter the new space if you were moved after defeat.

b) If you do not defeat or evade a creature, stop the sequence and end turn.

c) If you "miss your next turn," stop the sequence and end your current turn instead; take your next turn as normal. Only miss your "next" turn if the effect occurs when you would have no more steps left in the encounter sequence.

But like Warlock said, you should really print out the FAQ and have it handy. :)
