Talents from a second Specialisation

By DaveBlewer, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Hi,

I think I already know the answer to this, but best to check I think.

Lets say that I have a mercenary soldier and he wants to go mauraudary?

MS does not get Toughened until the fourth row, but marauder has it in every single row until the last. This means that if the character completes both specs he can only have +8 wound points, and must ignore either the doubling up on the Soldier spec?

How about Dedication? No matter how many specs you take and complete, you can only take the Dedication talent once?

If a talent is considered ranked you may take and apply it for each instance you take it.

Toughened, Grit and Dedication are not Ranked :)

They are ranked. You can take as many of them as you can get.

I was under the impression that you could raise an attribute one point each time you took dedication.

Either Dave is trolling or he needs to go back and read the book again. You can take a ranked talent as many times as it appears in a specialization you have. You must take them to qualify for talents they link to.

Trolling? Right, OK.

Thanks for the clarification anyway,

Toughened, Grit and Dedication are not Ranked :)

... it says right in the book they are. O_o Pg 134, 136 and 145.

Easy everybody even I have to admit I am still re reading the book and primarily rely on the forums to clarify my confusion even if it is clearly stated. Dave I would also recommend going to the FFG developer Answered Questions that is stickied near the top of this forum board. One of the fans has been compiling all them from articles, forums, and podcasts. I would actually really recommend looking at that before posting a thread up because especially with edge now the question probably been asked and answered in half a dozen ways already. Just that thread makes it a little easier to find. Hope this helps finding your answers.

If by Attribute you mean your core stats (Brawn, Intellect, Agility, etc), I believe the book says you can only increase those to a maximum of 6 during gameplay, regardless of where they start.

So if you start with Brawn 5, even if you gain access to two Talents that increase it, it cannot exceed 6, so the other would be ignored. Although I assume you would 'check the box' so you can continue onto a linked Talent. (Weither you have to PAY for that talent.. I am unsure)

6 is the maximum naturally and then you can use cybernetics to bump it up one more in some of them.
