Question about storing and organizing expansion decks

By BrooklynMike, in CoC General Discussion

OK, I'm hooked. So are my kids. So, I'm already buying all the Asylum decks and now I'm wondering how best to store them to facilitate deck building. Do folks keep the Asylum together, since it is thematic, and just shuffle through each one to build a deck (this refers to casual play, I'm sure a lot more science goes into tournament deck construction). Or, do folks take all the cards from each faction across all Asylums and put them into one mega faction deck?

Deck boxes for your decks in sleeves. Numerical order for those cards not in play. With Asylum packs alone, I can see wanting to keep factions together. I'd still keep in order.

I keep everything sorted by faction in a big plastic cardbox. First by faction, then by card type (characters, then conspiracies, then events, then support), then each card type within the faction in alphabetical order.

As far as deckbuilding, I usually pick 10-12 characters I like and throw 2-3 copies of each in. I do this until I have 30 characters. Then, I sprinkle in event and support cards that seem useful. Then, I fill it out to 50 with more characters. I usually go with mono-faction and some neutrals, but will occasionally make 2-faction decks.

I took the insert out of the Core Set box and built my own dividers using Foam Core from Michael's art supply store. I ended up with 12 compartments total, one each for the factions, and another for built decks. I separate everything out by faction, and within that character/support/event.
