Campaign settings for low-tech escalation?

By Tiltowait, in X-Wing

Just wondering if anyone has created or adapted existing campaign settings using more chronologically accurate thematics?

I don't have the entire timeline in my head but a rough example at campaign start only Z-95, Y-Wings, and YT-2400 would be available for the Rebels and Tie/Ln and Firesprays for Imperial Play.

The HWK-290 would be available to both factions at start.

Then YT-1300 and TIE Advanced.

Then X-Wings would arrive.

Followed by TIE Bombers and Lambda Shuttles

B-wings and Interceptors would be next.

Lastly vessels such as the Defender, Phantom, and E-Wing.

I don't know when the Decimator was developed...

I suppose to add a level of complexity one could add research trees, i.e. invest resource points to conduct research. Said points from same pool used normally to acquire reinforcements.

Sounds like a cool idea, maybe break it into 5 periods? Pre-movies, NH, ESB, ROJ, post movies?

Period 1:

Rebels: Z-95, Y-Wing, HWK, both YT's (they both significantly predate the rebellion)

Empire: TIE Fighter, Lambda, Firespray

Period 2: add X-Wing, TIE Advanced

Period 3: add Bomber and Interceptor

Period 4: add A-Wing and B-Wing

Period 5: add Phantom, Defender and E-Wing

This also mirrors the back and forth momentum in the trilogy, but I would say in period one only an ORS could be used rather than the named falcon pilots. Since I never played galaxies, I'm not sure when the decimator first came in either, so I would add it to period 1, 2 or 3.

*edit: apparently the decimator was in use sometime BBY, so add it to period 1 to even things out a bit.
