JISE Director, FOB Shank, Camp McCloskey for the first package. That is the only address I have received so far. Will keep extra stuff for subsequent packages.
"Let 'em Fly" campaign-support our troops
Those are physical locations, I'm more curious about the units themselves. If you (or they) can't share that information for opsec purposes I understand.
That's all I know. My thought is it is for a general area kind out thing, like a CAC.
Special thanks to Mayhem Comics for donating a Tantive IV to the campaign. Now I'm gonna need a bigger box... I updated the original post and added the link to the spreadsheet I have going, so people can see what I have and what is incoming.
I picked up the Chicago Regional haul today, and I am overwhelmed by the generosity of this community.
I was hoping Victor could keep track of who gave what ships, but he said he pretty much had tons of ships just thrown his way, so he couldn't. What I would like to know is who gave what at the Chicago Regional so I can keep record of it in my spreadhseet that I have linked in the original post.
This is what I know so far (and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong):
Dice Dojo gave a TIE Advanced, TIE Fighter, TIE Defender, Shuttle
Mark and Tyler Tippett gave a Core Set and a YT-1300
Dave Pontier gave a Shuttle
That was what Victor could remember. So if you know of any more, I would like to match up who gave what. Here is what I have so far that I don't know where they came from:
Imp Aces
Imp Aces
Firespray
Shuttle
E-wing

As an update, I just need a TIE Interceptor pack, which I hope to obtain tomorrow, and packages #1 and #2 will be ready to ship out on Monday. I also have to make a presentation video for the FFG higher ups, which I hope to do tomorrow as well.
The first transport...is away!!
Seriously, the package going to Afghanistan did have a transport in it, so I can say that. Both packages included one of every expansion pack, core set, dice set, map, and card sleeves. The Afghanistan package also included a Transport and a Tantive.
Sent out packages #1 and #2 today. #1 went to Afghanistan, to a unit that said it had a bunch of guys interested in playing. I also included some puzzle books, a letter, and the game Tsuro (highly recommend it if you haven't played it.)
Package 2 went to a submariner that is a single father. He plays with his friend while in the US, but uses his friend's stuff because money is tight. He is currently underway, so hopefully the package will get to him as quickly as it can.
I will be sending package #3 out to a carrier soon. I cannot know the address until it gets underway due to security reasons, but once it is underway, I will get the address and send the package out.
Thank you all for donating. I couldn't do this without your continued support. And I cannot begin to describe how much this will mean to the troops overseas.
No need to describe it; some of us already know how it feels to be on the receiving end.
I'll get another squint & a HWK to round out #3. See you Sunday?
I'll get another squint & a HWK to round out #3. See you Sunday?
Thanks, zig. Yep, ill be there Sunday for some epic gaming!
Hothie,
Did you have your meeting with FFG yet?
Sent them a video Monday. Still waiting to hear back. They may have to get lfl permission to do anything official.
Cool I figure they at least would have to run it past their lawyers before they could do anything.
How much time is left to participate in this? I want to donate or mail a ship but I am strapped for cash at the moment.
My plan is to make this campaign an on-going thing. I have sent packages 1 and 2 out, but I'm awaiting an address (and a few incoming ships) for package #3 to be complete and ready to send out. But packages #4, 5, etc are still looking fairly bare, so I will always be accepting ships to send out, even if I don't yet have addresses for them. I think as the word gets out that I will be getting more addresses to send ships to. Whenever you would like to or are able to contribute is fine.
Cool I figure they at least would have to run it past their lawyers before they could do anything.
It looks like I will have to wait until after PAX before I can get in and get a meeting scheduled.
In other notes package 3 should be complete Sunday. So yay!
Gencon update: talked with ffg briefly. They want lots of details of the program. I believe they are planning to make this a big, big thing, but they have to get approval first. So the more details I give them, the more ammo they have for legal-type things.
I hope that doesn't mean people will stop giving. My hope is that people won't think,"Oh, FFG has this, I don't need to do anything." Your continued donations are absolutely necessary and appreciated.
My pirate tourney now will have an outrider and rebel aces to add to prize support. And I now have aces, outrider, and deciimator to send overseas as well, thanks to the players taking up a collection at gencon. This is truly an outstanding community.
I hope to send you a ship or two next week. I'm still in a hard place right now due to some issues with car maintenance.
I received ships from the generous players at gencon. So there is now a rebel aces, outrider, and decimator going to package #3. Thank you all!
Edited by hothieThat's way cool, getting some unreleased ships out to the troops.
Yeah, unfortunately they sold out of the decimator and outrider before I could stock up, so I only got a few of each.
The USS Carl Vinson is underway, and soon I will have an address for them so I can send out package #3.
I also sent my email to FFG, so hopefully that ball can get rolling as well.
(Emperor voice) "Things are proceeding as I have foreseen..."
Got the address. Package #3 will hopefully be in the mail tomorrow, on its way to 6000+ sailors and airmen to enjoy.
Package #3 is on its way to the USS Carl Vinson.
I'm always open for more addresses, as well as donations for future packages.
Thanks for organizing, hothie!
Phoenix Squadron is holding our event to put another package together on September 20th at Empire Games in Mesa AZ. No entry fee but a suggested donation of either a ship or the cash equivalent of one ship will be appreciated. Lots of ways to donate during the tournament to raise additional funds (all of which will go to purchasing ships or other game components).
