New Doom 3 Novel

By Interceptor2, in Doom

For anyone interested in the Doom novels...Matthew Costello has just published the second book in his Doom 3 trilogy. His first Doom 3 book was Worlds on Fire , and this second book in the series is titled Maelstrom . I really enjoyed the first book, but it ended when the demonic invasion was just beginning. Finally with the sequal we'll get to see some real monster bashing. You should be able to check the book out at Amazon.com.

There's Doom novels? I thought Doom is Doomed. Oh well, more scenario ideas.

There's a surprisingly large number of video game novels out there. I remember getting suckered by a Splinter Cell novel. It was called "Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell" so I thought it was written by Tom Clancy, but no, that was just part of the brand name. I suppose it wasn't a bad novel, but it wasn't particularly good either.

On the other hand, I really did enjoy Lord of the Clans, as I finally got to read the story from Blizzard's canned adventure game. Pretty good. Basically a prequel to WC3 for anyone who might be interested.

In a pathetic attempt to get back on topic, though, I haven't read any Doom novels as of yet. I might be interested in checking htem out someday though.

I've read Worlds on Fire and just bought Maelstrom (haven't started it yet) but have heard good things about it. If anyone does decide to read Doom literature skip the original novels and go with these. I'm not sure how I feel about the comics.
