Your pretty brave to pick the Sulaco since it is thought to be the most unlucky ship in the United Americas. Before LV-426 it ripped apart a spacestation it was docked with killing lots of Americans & during combat with hostile humans the computer, the USCM usually let the computer do all the fighting and navigation, tried to defend itself by putting out ecm and two anti-anti-sat missile beacons to protect the ship from a volly of anti sat missiles. It tried to out smart the missiles by takening the position of one of the decoys. It tricked one missile. The other hit it and killed half the Marines on board. If this had not happend double the Marines would have been sent to lv-426, not that it would have mattered, the 2nd time Marines were sent to LV-426 they had two battalions, 2000 Marines max, and only 3 survived.

Really tempting to design a set of pilot cards, but the Enterprise could wipe out a ISD so there's not much point.

I will give it to you, Kirk in 1701-A can defeat a ISD under the right conditions. Its not going to happen with any other Capn or Enterprise. Picard is just not a good war time CO.

As much as I am a fan of Firefly, I find Serenity a sad choice because it has no weapons,

it's just a (115m x 62m x 28m) fat transport. Does that help you decide?

See, with practical Game elements in mind, I'd have to go with the Gunstar from The Last Starfighter.

I would agree that no non Star Wars ships should be the rule but as a theoretical discussion i would second the Swedge motion of the Cosmo Tiger. Along with the Viper and of course the Buck Rogers Thunderfighter that was almost in Star Wars and according to a throwaway line in the series also has shields (inconsistent scripts. gotta love them) which would make it the most compatible choice. The Starbelly Sled from Buck would be a nice bomber and also (but not from Buck of course) the original Cylon Raider if it were not almost Millenium Falcon sized

Enterprise can't kill an ISD, it takes two and one has to have Kirk.

I would also pick the Reaper heavy fighter, comes with twin gatling lasers, twin Vulcan cannons, and a rear turreted quad-pulse cannon. This heavy fighter is used by the Alliance forces in StarLancer.
