Tips on flying Shuttles well.

Any tips on flying Shuttles. Upgrades, I have seen and looked at the basic builds, Doom Shuttle, Vader Shuttle and all that.

Practice daily.

Can't say it enough, for 28 points(base cost plus advanced sensors and engine upgrade) you get the best deal in the game. 10 hit points and 3 attack dice with the ability to block and never lose actions. If you are going for a doom shuttle then I would only use vader. You don't want to kill yourself and lose anything you paid for. As was said above. You can use your own ships in conjunction with advanced sensors to give yourself stress free 0 moves. Once you he the hang of the shuttle it becomes a true force to be reckoned with.

Might I suggest you try flying a black squadron with wing man with your shuttle. Makes for a nice stationary pill box, isn't too point intensive and if you go with a OGP+AdvS+EU+Gunner you have a quick mobile and frighteningly good blocker.

The only thing I would suggest is adding tactician. A guy in the local group suggested it and I tried it last night and it is SICK. If you miss your first shot get a second with gunner and both shots give stress. Handing out 2 stress a turn really hampers your opponent.

Yeah, tactician is just plain MEAN on the CR-90. In my last epic game I ran the corvette with all quad laser cannons and managed to put 4 stress tokens on Vader in one round of firing.

But I digress.

The ST-321 title is one of my favorite shuttle features. Allows you to easily set up focus/TL combos.

I also like to run saboteur on the shuttle. If someone outmaneuvers it (which is quite easy) you still have a way to fight back for only 1 point

Forum search "Boot Camp" and you'll find some more exercises to run your Hipposhuttlebuses through.

The alabaster disaster...

The alabaster disaster...

Nice one. That's my new nickname for the odd one that doesn't live through a round to fire.

I like Alabaster Space Disaster a bit more than just the two words

My advice is to go as slowly as possible. The key to the shuttle is not letting people get behind you, and the easiest way to achieve that is approaching slowly.

Not letting other ships behind you is much easier when you park a bounty hunter on the shuttle's butt and just low speed maneuvers to keep it there.

Sorry do not understand here. How does advanced sensors turn red moves into white/green? I only thought of Boost turn (Adv Sen + Eng Upg)+ Hard 2 (red). But you are still stuck with stress next turn.

Doomshuttle:

Line up as a flank on either edge of the play mat. Slightly angled inward (less then 45 degrees). Start turning by banking, 1 turn earlier then normal. Zero stop. Then green 1 bank. Zero stop.

By then, you should be pretty much dead if you've been using vader. The trick, for me, is to start turning a bit early plus the slight angled start help with the horrible turning.

I tend to use Vader pretty quickly and then save his last crit for mid game when a good opportunity presents itself. Hopefully to blow up a ship.

Edit-

I've also had success lining up the doom shuttle right in the middle and charging directly into enemy formation. It cause one hell of a mess causing bumps and blocks everywhere. Use the remaining squad to lay the pain. In this setup, I kamikaze as soon as I can. Using Vader every single turn. The idea being to disorganize your opponents squad, while hitting as hard as possible to gain a numbers advantage. Hopefully killing off the best ship they have.

Use advanced sensors to action before doing a red maneuver.

Then next turn, do a green maneuver to clear stress and take an action as normal.
