I've been flying my phantom a lot lately and loving it and got to thinking about getting a second and building a list with both Whisper and Echo.

I'm pretty set on this base:

Whisper + VI + ACD (37)

Echo + VI + ACD (35)

OGP + EU (25)

Total = 97

Now the question is what to do with the last three points. Vader Crew, Ion Cannon, leave the three points for initiative, or...? My original idea was to go with Vader, but then thought the Ion could give some control to help the phantoms get behind specific targets. Thoughts?

When I came up with a similar list before, it was Whisper and Echo each with VI, Adv cloak, and FCS and then a Shuttle with Vader. I'm not super sure about the FCS but they can come in handy.

My biggest worry about this list is that the Shuttle is the only thing that the enemy can possibly target, so it will die fast, possibly too fast to use Vader. Then again, that is its job, to distract and deal as much damage as possible. What are your thoughts?

I've play tested that exact build with Vader on the shuttle. What ends up happening is the shuttle does not last long and if you make one mistake with a phantom he's gone. It is a good build but very skill intensive.

Maybe I'll try it out with the Ion Cannon then if Vader just adds to the pounding the ship will already take. I'm hoping that by trading in FCS on the phantoms for EU on the OGP it'll help make sure I can keep my opponent in sights.

I was just about to post the same topic with essentially the same build.

I'm weary of flying an Omicron without the EU, otherwise yes, I would try out the Tactician on it for sure. To be honest, this will be my first time flying a Lamda, I've been a sole Rebel player from the beginning but used Wave 4 as the kick in the pants to try the other side out.

for the OP you can add a recon spec to Echo almost making him a second Whisper, having a focus for offense and defense is very important when rolling that many dice

Looks pretty good. I think I'd move FCS to Echo. Reason being, sometimes it is a rough decision to spend that focus on Echo, since you might need it for defense. FCS will remove some of this issue. But then again, Whisper might want it to be able to Barrel Roll more, since Whisper is a bit less manueverable than Echo.

with 1 point left, VI on echo or whisper?

Nah. Initiative bid (for giving Initiatve to the opponent).

Echo and Whisper are more likely to match PS than the lower forms, in my experience.

From having flown with VI on Echo & Whisper and watching games where they dont have VI, I think it should be mandatory if your playing them with ACD as well (Which again in my humble opinion is Mandatory)

So anytime I pick up Echo or whisper they always cost 35 & 37 points respectively.

Finding room for RecSpec on Echo will also increase his survivability significantly, as mentioned he becomes similar to Whisper in that he should end up with focus on attack if you need but also on defence.

so the real question should be "I have a 38 point Echo and a 37 point Whisper, what else can I get for the remaining 25 points? RGP + PTL Maybe?"
