This happened last week

I attacked with Kath, and landed 2 crits. Buddy rolled and evades both.

I thought he would get two stress tokens, but he said only one which I think was the way we played it.

Just want to make sure for future plays which way was correct

Kath says that the defender receives 1 stress token if he cancels at least 1 <crit> result.

So given the wording of the card itself, your friend was correct, you'd only ever get 1 stress from Kath. In order to work like you were thinking the card would have to be worded like this...

"The defender receives 1 stress token for each <crit> result he cancels."

As a side note, there are few if any cases in X-Wing where you see multiple effects/tokens/dice from the same action/effect.

Jan can only give 1 extra die, even if you could remove the stress token she can still only give 1 extra die.

The key is in the text on her card:

"When attacking, the defender receives 1 stress token if he cancels AT LEAST 1 [crit] result."

The words "at least" indicate that the condition of the ability allows for more than 1 [crit] result in the same trigger opportunity.

If her card said 1 stress for EACH result cancelled, it would be a different story.

Kath's ability states:

When attacking, the defender receives 1 stress token if he cancels at least 1 {Crit} result.

So no matter how many {Crit}s are cancelled, the defender only receives one stress.
