The Clash of the Highlander Titans

By Guest, in News

Hello Kingdom Hearts Community!

The last of the in-store Highlander Tournaments have been played and all the decks are in for the traditional in-house "Clash of the Titans" tournament. In "Clash of the Titans" FFG's Moogles construct the decks based on the decklists sent to us and play them against each other to determine the ultimate champion! The prize for the person who constructed the deck that wins this tournament is an uncut foil sheet from the very first print run of Kingdom Hearts ! Runners up will receive other fun prizes and everyone will receive our congratulations for taking part in this event.

From what we heard, everyone had a good time and there was a lot of fun and challenge, out there in the wide world with the Highlander Format. To host your own Highlander Tournament with your friends (and Magic Friends) you can download the rules PDF from our Support Page , along with other fun variants like "Curse of the Heartless" and "Neverland".

Nemo from the Edmonton Kingdom Hearts group sent in some pictures of the Sou Kawaii event. We hope all of you had tournaments that were as exciting. For larger versions of the pictures, head over to the Edmonton players' facebook page and say hello!

The "Clash of the Titans"

The first round has been played through and we've been surprised and delighted by the variety of decks that got sent in to compete in the event. There have been fairly equal numbers of Aggro and WRs, with plenty of players taking advantage of the wicked "control" that has become newly viable in Set III (Monstro, Pinocchio, Abu, and more). One thing we've seen a lot of is the use of "search" cards. There were almost no decks that did not take advantage of the Destiny Islands/The King combo. After all, who wouldn't want to grab any card at all from their deck? There was also plenty of L&D Donald Ducks and Goofys and pretty much every deck we've seen has at least one Bambi in it. Blaze through that draw pile!

Break of Dawn

We've been getting a lot of emails lately asking when we will start running "Card of the Day" for Set IV: Break of Dawn . Not to worry: everything is on schedule and the early Summer release is looking good. As soon as we receive production samples from our printer, we will go ahead and let the "Card of the Day" begin. There will be a little something for everyone in this set, including lots of new and interesting stuff that you'll just go crazy for. It's a bit early to say what, but just keep your eyes peeled and stay tuned to this spot for more details as they unfold!
