E-Wing is the best way to protect the most powerful droid in the universe, R3-A2.
Awing vs Ewing...is there even a comparison?!
I don't think you can really compare the two. I've played around with the A-wing recently and have been trying a few different things. I'm looking forward to the Rebel Aces pack as there appears to be a lot of oppertunity to stack up a lot of stuff.
Currently I'm looking at Jake Farrell and cards like Push the Limit, A-wing test pilot and Outmaneuver to generate multiple actions in the same turn. Although he wouldn't be cheap (28 points with Chardaan Refit) he could be a real threat to work the flanks with.
What's the hit and evasion probability on the dice?
The A-Wing has the most green maneuvers on any ship out there. So the A-Wing does have more maneuverability. Also the A-Wing can carry missiles which the E-Wing has Torpedoes. Also the A-Wing has an option to reduce the point cost allowing a naked A-Wing to squeeze in below the 100 point mark.
The E-Wing is a faster X-Wing to some things up with the shields and hull reversed.
In any case, fielding 5 A-Wing's is better than fielding 3 E-Wing's. Not only do you have more attacks per round, but you also have more hit points.
Yes, but Etahn and 4 A-wings is better than 6 A-wings. It all comes down to build. I think that with A-wings with EPTs taking the low PS x-wings point slot we'll see a E-wings supported by A's pretty often.
I'm very glad that we've come to the day where it's no longer "how many dice and HP you can pack in a list" to win. I think roles are really starting to develop and tactics are getting more varied...hope this continues.
Awings are harassers. Beef em up and they can be even more (see Jake F.).
Ewings beg to be customized. You'll likely never run a naked one and even if you do it was for the extra durability and extra firepower...otherwise you'd take 2 awings! They don't fit the same role. They are meant to do different things for your list.
With the E-wing you're paying the cost of upgrades SLOTS. So naked they're kind of overcosted. Which means generics are iffy. A-wings were admittedly overcosted, hence the upcoming Refit. I think A-wings are going to be really nasty after Aces hits, especially of fielded in a group of 3. 3 Aced A-wings with Chewbacca for wave 2 blitz.

not necessarily, being able to shed stress in a straight line doesn't make you more "maneuverable" it makes you faster.
E-wings have BR(and for an extra point an R2 to even up the green count) and the 1 bank/straight, they lose the one turn but I think that BR might outweigh that. B-wings have a crappy dial in terms of green to red ratio but BR makes them very maneuverable in close quarters especially with AdvSen(which the E-wing can take at a further increased cost) I would have preferred for its cost (and fluff wise it is supposed to have the speed of an interceptor) that they gave it boost base line but alas that might have made a PTL+R2 +AdvSen E-wing too good probably.
2 attack dice with focus vesus 2 Defense dice with focus has a 41% chance to hit.
Shouldn't this be 0.30?
