What ships would you like to see in future waves?

By Lord Master Igneus, in X-Wing

...No because I ******* like the ETA-2, ARC-170, Belbullab-22, N1, V-Wing, Delta-7, Vulture Droid, Tri-Fighter, and anything else I forgot.

Is that a ******* problem? Who wants a Jar Jar card? Nobody. ******* nobody.

I don't get it. What's with the hate? Those ships are fine. Hey here's a fun fact. My father is nearly 44, and grew up with the OT. You know what? He enjoyed the prequels. Oh my god, who'd have ******* figured? No, I'm done holding my tongue. I'm tired of, "Us older folks" or, "Cringe at prequels" or, "Jar Jar card."

Give it a ******* rest. Some of us simply like those ships. We have every right to, and your whining isn't going to stop that.

Dude.

Chill.

Alright, so you like them. That's fine. There's no need to have a fit and get this thread locked/blocked/disappeared.

When you ask the question "What's with the hate?", are you asking an honest question, or a rhetorical one?

Yeah....like whoa dude.

I like prequels and prequel ships and I don't care if people don't like them

Take a chill pill

If FFG makes a ship from the Expanded Universe, say the Sun Crusher, that would please hardcore fans.

More like make them cry.

XG-1 Assault Gunboat. YT-2000.

And I'd rather sever my own arm with a rusty screwdriver than buy or play with a ship that appeared in the prequels. Just throwing that out there.

Long Time lurker, new member.

I've been thinking about this for a while, and I realized over time that my biggest wants were now imperial ships without really many rebel ships to match them (outside of my number 1 want of a K-wing Bomber). So I went ahead and put together a list of possibilities that FFG could put out for each side. Yes, there are more ships that exist in the EU for each side, but the ones I don't list I don't expect are likely to be made:

First lets start out with the Empire(17):

The three ships pretty much everyone wants

- Skipray Blastboat (large)
- Missile Boat
- XG1- Star Wing Assault Gunboat

The inevitable expansion of the TIE fleet
- Tie Sentinel
- Tie Aggreessor
- Tie Advanced X2
- Tie Droid
- Tie Raptor
- Tie Recon
- Tie Hunter
- Tie Lone Scout
- Tie Scimatar
- Tie Interdicstor
- Tie Heavy Bomber
- Tie Oppressor

Others
- A-9 Vigilence
- I7 Howlrunner

Then we come over to the Rebellion (12):

New fighter classes we haven't seen before
- K-wing
- T-wing
- M-class Starfighter
- H-60 Tempest Bomber
- Cloakshape
- R41 Starchaser

Updates of existing ships
- Y-wing Longprobe
- X-Wing StealthX
- X-Wing Recon

And now I'm really scraping the bottom of the barrrel

- Planetary Defender
- Razor Clas Starfighter
- Hornet-Class Interceptor

It becomes pretty obvious pretty quickly that the Empire had a much greater diversity of ships in the EU, while the rebellion and new repulic relied VERY heavily on updating the X-wing for decades.

Personally, I'd like to see most of these ships make it out. Why? Well pretty much every one actually does add something to the game:

Imperial:

- Skipray Blastboat (large) - we haven't seen anything resembling a gunboat on either side yet, and this would provide a very interesting weapons platform to base squads around

- Missile Boat - the unique SLAM engine boost on a missile carrier would make for a deadly mix of interceptor's speed and bomber's firepower. Even more so than the TIE Defender, this would be a gamechanger for strategy

- XG1- Star Wing Assault Gunboat - a more debatable addiion after the Missile Boat, but you can't really have one without the other, and this provides a capitol ship killer for epic mode

- Tie Aggreessor/Tie Sentinel - this would be the first pair Imperial ships to possess a turret, something the Rebels have at least three ships of. its about time we saw a counter

- Tie Advanced X2 - people have bee asking for the Advanced to be "fixed". Well Vader's tie was an "experimental" version. This would be a way to both upgrade the cards and the model

- Tie Droid - We could well see entirely new ways to move a ship with this droid pilot. They'r not subjected to the same limitations as human pilots, and can pull much more drastic maneuvers without stress.

- Tie Raptor - speed and maneuverability of an interceptor, armor and weapons of a fighter. Could be another good cheep base for a swarm.

- Tie Recon or Tie Lone Scout -we've seen advanced sensors on several imperial ships now. These would be perfect platforms to use those sort of advancements as well as other sensors to get an idea of enemy movement and adjust your own plans each turn.

- Tie Hunter - not a terribly spectacular ship on its own for adding things to the game. But **** that's a bad ass design. And I think it likely to show up soon given that i'ts been used in other FFG products.

- Tie Scimatar - A different kind of bomber (there's also the Tie Torpedo bomber FYI). Not really needed with the existing bomber, but if the rebels are going to get a K-wing (likely inevitable), the Empire needs a counter.

- Tie Interdictor - something that's existed in Star Wars for a long time is the ability to trap enemies in tractor beams and gravity wells. I'm stunned that neither has appeared in X-wing yet. Here's the apropriate time to see it.

- Tie Heavy Bomber - ok, there's like 8 variations of "heavy bombers" with different clusters of missile pods. Not sure if needed, but a notable thing.

- Tie Oppressor - What role does it serve? . Do we really need it in the game? I don't know, but I put it out there anyway since its an awesome design.

- I7 Howlrunner - an imp ship I admit not terrible familiarity with. But could be an interesting inclusion.

- A-9 Vigilence - I freely admit, this is a pretty crappy ship. But the cost should be cheep, providing an interesting mechanism for rounding out squads that are at 85-90 points already.

Rebellion:

- K-wing - I'm actually surprised that people haven't suggested this more. The TIE Bomber has no counter on the Rebel Side with similar abilities. This serves precisely that purpose.

- T-wing - again a pretty crappy ship, but a match-up for the A-9 Vigilence for the rebels to have a cheep squad filler

- M-class Starfighter - only appeared once, essentially a 3-engined Y-wing. Could be a good counter for the missile boat if given a good SLAM equivalent

- H-60 Tempest Bomber (or H-wing) - an old idea from the WEG RPG that never appeared elsewhere. Seems like the perfect oposite of the Assault gunboat.

- Cloakshape- a rebel ship I admit not terrible familiarity with. But could be an interesting inclusion.

- R41 Starchaser - a more heavily armored starfighter/inteceptor cross. A niche already sort of filled by the E-wing, but could give more options.

- Y-wing Longprobe and X-Wing Recon - while both would be modifications of existing ships, they provide a recon and intelligence aspect for things like advanced sensors that could be a way of looking ahead at the enemy's movements and djusting movements.

- X-Wing StealthX - admittedly this came many years later in the EU, but this is the closet the rebellion has to matching the TIE Phantom, so I'd be surprised to not see it some time in the near future.

- Planetary Defender, Razor Clas Starfighter - I concede I now little about these other than they exist. So I don't know what role they would fill.

- Hornet-Class Interceptor - and this is really here because if this is not the dopest **** ship you've ever seen in star wars, and you don't want to own a model of it just turn in your fan card now.

And most of these lend themselves to being paired up into waves pretty well also

Wave 6, the anti-wave 4

- Stealth X (anti Phantom)

- TIE Oppressor (anti E-wing)

- R41 Starchaser (anti Tie Defender)

- I7 Howlrunner (anti Headhunter)

Wave 7

Heavy Bombers - K-wing, Scimitar Bomber

Filler ships - A9 Vigilence, T-wing

Wave 8 - Recon Wave

- X-wingRecon and Y-Wing Longprobe

- TIE Recon and TIE Lone Scout

Wave 9 - the bombers

- H-60 Tempest Bomber, M-class starfighter

- Tie Interdictor, Asault Gunboat

Wave 10 - Updating the existing ships

- Tie Advanced X2 - update of advanced

- Tie Heavy Bomber- update of tie Bomber

- XJ- X-wing - update of the X-wing with more rogues

- Y-wing update - two-seater variety with crew

That leaves a few unpaired:

- missile boat

- Skipray Blastboat

- Tie Aggressr/Sentinel

- Tie Droid

- Tie Raptor

- Howlrunner

- cloakshape

- planetary Defender-

- razor class Starfighter

- Hornet Class interceptor

But even if you cut out the half of the most unknown or unpopular designs from here, there's still at least a couple or three years of ships that FFG can put out based off primarily Imperial vs. Rebellion clashes.

Personally my top 5 wants:

1) K- wing Bomber

2) Missile Boat

3) Skipray Blastboat

4) Tie Hunter

5) Tie Droid

Oh god no...

I'll throw another vote behind the TIE Avenger and the Assault Gunboat. The former has been my single biggest want since I first got into the game.

For Rebels, I would dearly love to see a YT-2400, and I'd like to see the Raven's Claw, but I'm struggling to find a small ship I'd like to see. The K-wing is an option, but it's not exactly an appealing design. I suppose the Cutlass-9, maybe.

Fortunately the Raven's Claw isn't happening. There's no point, since the Crow is already here.

We're getting the YT-2400 though.

If I were Kyle, I'd have just bought another HWK.

It certainly would be nice to have another title for the HWK, maybe one that played more to Jan's abilities?

I'd actually really like to see the Gamma-class Assault Transport, by which I mean this:

320px-Gamma-class_assault_shuttle_SotG.j

In another thread, MacrossVF1 is showing us how he's building one from scratch, and DB Draft is conjuring some custom rules for it. If he ends up building one before FFG announces one, I'd be tempted enough to pay for a mold copy, should some level of mass production put it in a decent price range. I wonder if any of you might feel the same way.

Just give me Empire Epic ships (Tartan Patrol Cruiser and somekind of GR-75 equivalent...) and be done with new ships.

TIE Avenger

TIE Sentinel

Assault Gunboat

Vigil Corvette

Gozanti Cruiser

TIE Droid

Skipray blastboat

Agreed. Because the Claw is an awful replacement that looks like a Y-Wing banged a podracer. And where are the blasters on that thing? Concealed?

That's not very Star Wars.

I'd like to see the Chiss Clawcraft, those are supposed to be relatively cheap to produce in the star wars universe right? It'd be nice to see the empire get some ships with shields that could be swarmed, or mini-swarmed, I don't think there should be anything cheaper than Academy Pilots but I've been enjoying mini swarms but I'd like to see alternatives to 4 tie fighters.

From what I've read it'd be less maneuverable than regular TIEs but more durable. Perhaps 4 hull 2 shields or something like that? And 2 agility.

Only canon ships. ;)

Things I'd like to see

1 The StarViper.

Shadows of the Empire says prince Xizor was vying with Darth Vader to be the Emporer's go to guy. So they'd be Empire (even though in the EU fluff they were released on the general market after Xizor's death because he had the rights to the design)

Plus you could have the Virago ship title. You can have fun with firing arcs because in the fluff their guns could turn though 90 degrees so you could have three attack dice forward or 1 attack dice to the left and right which would be different at least. This is, in my opinion, the best looking ship in the expanded universe.

2 The Skipray blastboat. This could be Imperial or Rebel? :-O

3 The light customs corvette for the Imps, looks good, has almost the exact firepower as a CR-90, roll on the first IMP capital ship

4 Hapes consortium Miy'til. (Rebel) It looks good and is another cheaper design. (Problem: its just a more sophisticated version of the Z-95 really)

5 Vigil class corvette. Just scale that sucker down a bit in length, Bob's your uncle a Star Destroyer look alike.

Things that wouldn't be so good

1 The Lancer Frigate. (no just no, totally broken in every way)

2 The Tie droid (out swarm the academy pilot? that's just silly)

3 The Tie Avenger (We have them already its called an X-wing)

4 Tie Hunters look like slightly uglier versions of the Phantom or the Interceptor... so no.

5 The assault gunboat, it is too similar to the rebel ships.

6 T-wings and R-41 Starchasers are very weak ships in the fluff. Pretty ugly too.

So yes StarViper is easily my biggest craving! so pretty! :D

I would love to see Clone Wars ships like the V-wing, V-19, Arc and the early Y-wing.

But to be realistic I think the new Rebels show is where they might be going since it would definitely apply to the episode 4 era. I would be very happy with the Gozanti cruiser and the Ghost:

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Ghost_(starship)

Also the Inquisitor character will have a unique pre-tie-advanced fighter:

I think those would all be fun to play, and since the show is canon....

I'd like to see them add a third or even fourth or fifth faction to the game. Then it would make better sense to have R-41 starchasers, T-Wings, Cloakshape fighters, Planetary Fighters, Preybirds, Razors, Supa, Toscan, the list goes on. Just start going down every the list of every ship and fighter that isn't capital scale in X-Wing, TIE Fighter, X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter and X-Wing Alliance PC games. Enough ships there to keep FFG busy for the next five years or longer.

But to get back closer to the topic, my top five ships I'd like to see are..

TIE Avenger

Xg-1 Star wing Assault Gunboat

Armored Y-Wing (not clone wars, normal ANH Y-Wing but with the hull plates on it)

Missile Boat

and while not a fighter...

XQ series space platforms (space stations both rebel and imperial used them)

We be extremely cool and add a lot to the gameplay to have space stations to attack, capture, or defend.

well iam a huge imperials lover but still i think its time for a third faction called the outlaws where smugglers, bounty hunters and all other kind of criminal pirate like organisations are united in one faction. maybe even add a 4th our so beloved CIS or in Europe the KUS ( separtists even existed in both of the galactic civil war eras and so on. but yeah now to the ships i really want to see.

Tie-Avenger give marek stele the ship he is best known for !!!

Tie-Aggressor a ship with back firing arc and a second seat that can even throw bombs (pretty cool ship but has a good dial and no shielding ;P)

well i dont like the rebel side but id like to see the

K-wing aswell to round up the EU rebel ships with the E-wing

and the T-wing it was the prototype for the A-wing so why not ^^
