What ships would you like to see in future waves?

By Lord Master Igneus, in X-Wing

A-9 Vigilance....can't believe I forgot that one.

R-41 starchaser, Nova courier or incom X4 gunship- Rebels

Skipray blastboat, AEG-77 Vigo-Imperials (okay I know the Vigo was a neutral ship...but Xizor Transportation Systems used them and they had contracts with the Empire)

i'm likewise in favor of ffg adding the incom x4 gunship (hopefully as a large ship for use in standard play), both because it'd be interesting to see how they translate its weapons loadout into the game and (as a fan of of naval & spaceship designs) it'd likewise be nice to have a rebel large ship with a centered bridge/cockpit as opposed to those current offerings with the offset bridge/cockpit (tend to prefer starships to starfighters & got into xwing after seeing the cr90 last year)

Prequel ships. Sorry - but that's what I'd like.

If that just won't happen, then at least a couple the Imperials were known to use: The V-Wing and the ARC-170.

Besides those, the Skipray Blastboat, Hound's Tooth and a Gthroc 720. IPV-1 for the Imperial Huge.

For those of you wanting prequel-era ships.

Is that because you grew up with the prequels and the Clone Wars cartoon? Many of us older folks cringe at the prospect.

But, what would the Jar Jar Binks crew card do? Is it something that gives you five points back at the cost of every turn there being a chance (blank on an attack dice) of your ship doing the exact opposite maneuver that's on your dial?

What I like to see is more variation on what is FFG has already released. For example, New card Variants, for example and X-wing that can fire a missile, or an A-wing that can drop a bomb. And Tie Bomber that replaces two torpedo slot for a Crew member slot a extra bomb slot, or a Tie Bomber that replaces two torpedo slots for a Cannon slot and a rear gunner, Or a Tie Bomber that replaces two of torpedo's slots and replaces them with a crew member slot and a system slot. New pilot card with different upgrade slots. Nothing else should change

I think that they should Make EU and the Clone wars a different game. They are different times.

Just my humble opinion. Peace though superior firepower!

Why do people want prequel ships I genuinely don't get it there is nothing redeemable about those films, they have no soul to them it's just one green screen shot after the next and it leaves the actors nothing to work with resulting In some good actors turning out terrible performances.

And they took Darth Vader and made him a whiney selfish idiot.

There isn't one prequel ship I want to see in this game.

I'm 35 and grew up on the OT and still enjoyed the prequels. I would love to see a Republic-era spinoff game.

There's no reason to have a Jar Jar card in that context. That would be like having a Bib Fortuna card for OT.

Don't like it? Don't buy it. That's exactly what I plan to do if a TIE Hunter is ever released. I hope they don't release one, but if they do, I won't begrudge anyone who wants one. Even LESS should someone have a problem with a Republic-era game if it operates as a stand-alone, which I think is probable.

...No because I ******* like the ETA-2, ARC-170, Belbullab-22, N1, V-Wing, Delta-7, Vulture Droid, Tri-Fighter, and anything else I forgot.

Is that a ******* problem? Who wants a Jar Jar card? Nobody. ******* nobody.

I don't get it. What's with the hate? Those ships are fine. Hey here's a fun fact. My father is nearly 44, and grew up with the OT. You know what? He enjoyed the prequels. Oh my god, who'd have ******* figured? No, I'm done holding my tongue. I'm tired of, "Us older folks" or, "Cringe at prequels" or, "Jar Jar card."

Give it a ******* rest. Some of us simply like those ships. We have every right to, and your whining isn't going to stop that.

Dandy. Keep your Prequel hate to yourself and judge the ships on their own merit rather than their association.

I'll throw another vote behind the TIE Avenger and the Assault Gunboat. The former has been my single biggest want since I first got into the game.

For Rebels, I would dearly love to see a YT-2400, and I'd like to see the Raven's Claw, but I'm struggling to find a small ship I'd like to see. The K-wing is an option, but it's not exactly an appealing design. I suppose the Cutlass-9, maybe.

Fortunately the Raven's Claw isn't happening. There's no point, since the Crow is already here.

We're getting the YT-2400 though.

For Rebels, I would dearly love to see a YT-2400, ....

You HAVE seen the wave 5 announcement, haven't you?

http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_news.asp?eidn=4869

Yes. I meant YT-2000. The X-wing Alliance ship. No idea why I'm getting them mixed up all of a sudden. ^_^

Ah. The YT-2000 is a fantastic little ship. My favorite of the YT series. Designing one similar to it in a few ways now.

Just like some people don't get how people can like/love the prequels, I don't get how some people can dislike/hate them. Especially the hate part. There's some aspects of star wars I don't like, but I don't know if there's anything I HATE. Maybe the closest being the holiday special *shudder*.

That being said, my order of choice that I've posted before is:

1) Prequel ships

2) Clone Wars ships

3) Rebels Ships

4) More EU Ships, ideally from the pc games

5) EP 7 Ships

Not as many of us "older folk" as you think. As film the prequels are terrible, as movies not so bad, as entertainment very good. Certain aspects of the prequels and clone wars are outright outstanding...certain aspects are outright terrible.

I would love to see Jar Jar Binks crew for 2 reasons: 1) IT WOULD DRAW MORE HATE FIRE THAN ANY OTHER CARD EVER and 2) that is exactly what it should do, it should make the ship he's on worse and cost negative points. I just want the art to be a ship blowing up. (all of this paragraph is just for giggles...)

Since I already talked about one of the terrible aspects here's some good: ship design (besides some scaling issues) is pretty **** solid and generally the things they did that were not solid were because it would make the ship look cooler. Each ship has personality (and in the case of droid ships, actual personalities) and fits well within the universe. The other thing the prequels and especially Clone wars did was fill in the blanks and expand the universe...and it's a **** fine universe to play in now (for those that don't have 3-4 editions of RPG to look to or have read 300 star wars paperbacks).

Speakin' the truth! The prequels did a LOT to fill the void of the universe officially and likewise, offered many, many MANY cool ships.

I'll always love the Venator, and how can anybody hate the LAAT/i?

For me, i don't really have a particular preference for prequel-era ships but I see it as an inevitability for financial/economic reasons. Ultimately, FFG will probably want to sell this game not only to hardcore fans of the Star Wars series but also to people who have a casual interest in Star Wars. To be sure, FFG already sells this game at B&N (though the results there are mixed, apparently).

If FFG makes a ship from the Expanded Universe, say the Sun Crusher, that would please hardcore fans. But casuals might not know what it is; they might not even know that it is Star Wars-related.

If, however, FFG makes a prequel ship like Naboo Starfighter, children (and their parents) might pick up the game because it looks cool and has their favorite ships. That allows FFG to expand its customer base.

I think it is a good thing if FFG continues to make money off Star Wars X-Wing, because then the tournaments and interest in the game will continue. From my personal experience with other games, once a game gets discontinued by its manufacturer, interest in the game will quickly and drastically decline.

Basically. Nothing but truth here.

I think something people need to ask more often is "what would adding this ship bring to the game that is not already here"

How would this craft feel to make it distinct enough for it to have a niche?

As silly as it would seem, I would like to see an imperial V-wing, since that could be very unlike current ships. An interceptor with an astromech slot could be pretty fun, or ruin everything forever. Who knows?

If they make prequel ships, how they make them will depend greatly on if they are being added to the existing game OR are they creating a new game.

If it's the latter, they will be similar to existing ships in the game. If it's the former, then you have to find what makes them unique.

Having droid ships would CLEARLY be a very unique aspect to the game.

Jedi fighters were small, fast, and had little defense. This could maybe result in the first agility 4 ships in the game (phantoms don't count since it's not agility 4 all the time). Maybe they also get the best dials yet, maybe no red moves and mostly green moves.

As others have mentioned the arc-170 could be the first small ship with a rear firing arc, as well as the first ship of any type to have both a crew slot (maybe even 2) as well as an astromech slot.

The naboo starfighters could be the cheap torpedo platform like the z-95 is for missiles and tie bombers are for both. Probably a hair more expensive due to having an astromech slot.

And so on.

I think they will be new factions: Republic (including Jedi) and Confederacy of Star Systems (including Sith stuff like Darth Maul's Sith Inflitrator). I think they will probably have their own playing styles - like agility 4 as markcsoul mentioned.

Star Destroyers.... yes....yes....STAR DESTROYERS!!!

And the Death Star...good...good

I think Star Destroyer will happen. It'll be like the Imperial Tantive IV.

The problem, though, is scale.

Dude.

Chill.

Alright, so you like them. That's fine. There's no need to have a fit and get this thread locked/blocked/disappeared.

When you ask the question "What's with the hate?", are you asking an honest question, or a rhetorical one?
