Clone Trooper 21-0408

By Nataris, in X-Wing

What affect on game outcome, exactly, does it have if Echo is a female pilot or not? Anyone?

That said, I think I'm going to refer to Echo as female from now on, simply to rile some of you up. :)

FFG made these pilots up. That's all. The pilot is clearly not echo from the clone wars cartoons. I too will call him male because FIG refers to him as such. I am going with whisper as female because it fits. This is a game, not a political statement. You can let echo be whatever you want when you fly it, because none of this matters at all. It's not sexism to think he's male. I get enough of that PC garbage in the real world. I don't care what you call it. 4 attack dice, 4 agility, and that de cloaking move are what have my attention. Personally, I think of backstabber as female, reminds me of my X wife!

I think the X-Wife is in wave 7, actually.

echo could be the clone trooper.. darth vader / emperorer are from the clone wars.. along with obi one.. maybe not all clones degraded as fast. I mean it is a made up universe in a made up story .. seriously.

random fact of the day: Barf is a mawg (half man - half dog).

Nobody is saying it is sexist to think Echo is male. Nobody. That's the most ridiculous over simplification.

Obviously people who are smart enough to discuss sexism know full well that the shockingly aggressive resistance to anyone considering Echo as a woman IS sexist. Those not smart enough to understand sexist concepts over simplify and claim misandry.

It boils down to this: Echo is fiction. She's whoever you want her to be. Droid, alien, woman, and even dolphin have been mentioned lately. ONLY WOMAN HAS INSPIRED STRONG REACTION.

Is this the real life?

Is this just Tumblr?

Caught up in P.C., no escape from the snowflakes~...

I just like being accurate. If FFG refers to Echo as a man, he should be referred to as a man, and it's inaccurate to refer to him as a woman. That's all.

If anyone wants to make sure I wouldn't be hypocritical about this: I take umbrage to people referring to Howlrunner and Kath Scarlet as men. That would be inaccurate — they're women, and should be referred to as such.

That's entirely valid. I'm still going to call Echo a woman, but at least your position makes sense.

What FFG says, goes. That's my opinion.

Whisper was made up by FFG so I'm not sure why anyone would think it strange that Echo was made up by FFG.

Whether male or female, the chances of Echo being a Clone Trooper are slim. Age and the fact his/her skillset is in GROUND combat sorta eliminate that.

For myself, FFG refers to him as male so I'll go with that. But Whisper's gender isn't referenced anywhere as far as I can tell so I'll go with Whisper being female for variety's sake if nothing else.

In either case, I suspect the shortage of female characters won't be a problem after Episode VII comes out. A lot of female cast members have been added recently.

Curiously, lots of Imperial females.

Which I find very strange, but I welcome it. With open arms.

Nice guys Finnish last the empire has the cool bad boys the girls like, you can't fault them for having good taste.

I think it's funny that people are fixating on one article refering to Echo as a he. An article probably not written by whoever made the pilot up, and almost certainly not checked for anything but typos and rules errors. I seriously doubt much if any lore went in to it. All it says to me is that the writer defaults to male pronouns. (Shrug)

I didn't know nice men were finnish.

Perhaps it's just my thang for women in Uniform. But yeah, women in The Empire is fine with my. Fascist as they may be and whatnot, they are a primarily human empire. Seems to me that the only prerequisite more often than not really would be just being human.

That, and there is a particular cunning women offer that for whatever reason, men can't replicate. So, like. Why not, Empire?

I don't think we can say definitively what FFG has said "Echo" is other than a pilot of the phantom. The article that refers to echo is written by a player and not the official stance of FFG, unless you think they also officially call shuttles with gunners "buzz saws", and if you think "they have editors that would catch that!" I refer you to the Princess Leia card where that can't spell the same word the same way on one card in an official product.

So, call Echo whatever you want until there is an official character somewhere. Male, female, twilek, whatever.

The author posts at BGG, at Team Covenant, and occasionally (I think) here as "Tusken Tactician". You could send him a PM and ask about the editing process, if you're curious.

Maybe they didn't have all of Jango Fett's DNA, so they filled in the gaps with West African Frogs, and clones can change gender spontaneously in a single sex environment. Life always finds a way.

I like you

Truly, there's no explanation for how anyone could read sexism into posts about gender here.

Both Phantom pilots are clearly transgender.

Whisper is also a hot redhead. Red hair, and big, green eyes.

There was more than one woman in star wars??

was that in the special edition??

lol

I'm changing my stance.

Apparently some are okay with Echo being a droid

Apparently some are okay with Echo being an alien

Apparently some are okay with Echo being a dolphin

Suspiciously, some seem not okay with Echo being a woman

Therefore, and to be as inclusive as possible, Echo is now an alien female droid dolphin. In a space suit.

I was just skimming some posts, who first brought up the dolphin?
