Playing our session tonight for the first time. We read through the rules, but have a question about combat and attack success.
Lets say, for example, a PC is attacking with a heavy blaster rifle with a damage of 10.
The PC rolls 3 successes and 2 failures, scoring a hit. Now, the way the rules read, each success adds 1 extra point of damage.
So, the question I have is, after everything is cancelled out, and only one success remains, do you add +1 damage for that 1 success, which ultimately means the hit got through. Without that success, the hit would have missed. So, is the damage for the weapon really 11 on a standard hit, and then +1 for each success not cancelled after that, or is it just going to be 10 damage, and then each success not cancelled after the initial success gets +1 damage?
I'd like to add that, as the GM, I had a hard time wrapping my head around the idea that a single success adds a damage, whereas it makes more sense for each additional success beyond the ititial adds to damage.
thanks for the answer.
