is marksmanship a good pair to the Luke crewcard?

Do these two cards work well together or are they redundit

They are fairly redundant together. They only both come into effect if you roll 2+ focuses on 3 dice (4 in Range 1). As a rule of thumb, when you have the Luke crew card, you'll have plenty of offense, so use the rest of your point for defensive upgrades or other ships.

What he said.

Luke is kinda a weird middle ground for offensive boost. For two points less you get gunner which is still pretty awesome, for one point more you can get gunner + marksmanship, which is an absolutely sick combination if you're facing high agility enemies.

Luke is best used when you either:

-Don't have the EPT for Marksman or need it for something else

or

-Want/Need to use your action for something other than focus / marksmanship / target lock

Crewman Luke is a very poor match with Marksmanship. Luke can convert one [eye] into a [hit] on the second attack. Marksmanship converts all [eye] result to [hit] EXCEPT the first which becomes a [crit]. If you've got Marksmanship working the ability from crew Luke NEVER needs to come into play. Gunner will provide the same effect for less.

The value of Marksmanship itself is often called into question and often found to be wanting more. It has its uses (and Gunner can be an acceptable one) but most of the time just spending your action to Focus and using that on your ONE attack may not get you the [crit] result but gets you as many dice to cancel and save three points.

One (slight) advantage of Luke is that his effect doesn't use up an action. If you bumped or wanted to use a defensive action, you can still get his mini-focus.
