OT Guardians of the Galaxy

By Seanamal, in X-Wing

I know this is OT but I just saw a sneak preview of guardians of the Galaxy and it looks like there's some hot fighter on fighter dogfighting action.

Flat out, Marvel has a good track record for their movies. Guardians is a way of them trying to trade that reputation in exchange for people taking a chance on a lesser known franchise. I normally wait for things to hit BluRay, or Netflix, but I'm going to see this. If nothing else than to make them more comfortable with taking chances on things like, say, Dr. Strange. But in all fairness, the movie looks like it's going to be rather good in its own right.

EDIT: drunken typing makes for bad spelling

I trust MCU movies. Captain America 2 was better than Avengers, IMO.

I'm really looking forward to Dr. Strange, but I'm sad Iron Fist is going to be series/miniseries.

But with Iron Fist AND Power Man being series, it makes it a good chance we'll get a Heroes for Hire series, and THAT I can definitely get behind.

PS: I haven't seen CA2 yet, but I've heard it's excellent

They made Agents of Shield and kept it alive. I'm going to give them more of my money. Also Zoe Salida makes everything better.

The way Disney has handled Marvel films gives me a good feeling that Episode 7 will be a good film.

Don't get too down. I like Iron Fist too, but at least this way he's actually part of the new Marvel Cinematic Universe - which means he CAN appear in a film.

I just don't like the idea that Avengers 3 is going to have Thanos, and they won't have the rights to Fantastic 4, X-Men, or Spiderman. Really really wish that Fox and Sony would allow crossovers. But this is precisely why we're seeing Marvel begin to promote lesser known heroes out of obscurity - like Guardians of the Galaxy - because without Fox and Sony's heroes, our friendly neighborhood superheroes are going to need all the help they can get.

Time for a Taskmaster movie IMO.

I didn't know we were even getting that, so this makes me very happy.

Given the director they picked i'm really not confident he ruined the star wars films.

I don't know Abrams has helped me to like Star Trek. I'm confident he will do well with Episode 7.

In case someone missed.

Now I have to admit that was pretty good. Ironically the ad before it was for GotG.

I'm sorry but if you like his version of trek you don't like startrek, there's nothing even a little faithful to ToS or TNG in those movies, he's just made an action film wearing the skin of star trek.

As someone brought up on star trek those movies are an insult to my childhood, where once there was science based adventure there is now only ridiculous pseudo science and brainless action scenes.

/end rant :)

I was at Disney World last weekend and they were showing a (exclusive, they said) 15-minute preview of the movie (basically the first opening scene + some new footage from throughout the movie) and it looks really really good. 80's music everywhere, humor, good action, and yeah I saw what hints at some good spaceship dogfighting scenes too.

I for one am very excited about the netflix shows. They do good shows, and it's great to see some of the lesser known characters get some air time.

Growing up I loved Daredevil, but one of my favorite titles was Heroes for Hire, so I'm very pleased to see them making a show about that.

Yeah, I'm not quite ready to praise Marvel's television endeavors. I quickly lost interest in that Whedon show that doesn't have Whedon being involved. The "Marvel Method" is just beginning to grate on me. Thor 2 was terrible and apparently I didn't enjoy Cap 2 as much as I could've. And with the Ant-man issues, I trust Kathleen Kennedy a lot more than I do Kevin Feige.
