I introduced my nephews to Age of Rebellion with the beginner box this weekend and everybody enjoyed it. We're going to keep playing and continue the story of the same characters.

I'd prefer to use the full rules, so I'll probably be translating the beginner box characters into the full version of the game.

Has anyone else done this?

I've not, but comparing the BegBox characters to the Beta material, you could probably switch them over without too much fuss. Provided that those PCs haven't advanced too far into the talent trees provided in the character folios.

I did an analysis to see of the AoR pre-gens "played nice" with the character creation guidelines, and for the most part they did. There were some oddities due to some of the characters having custom gear that doesn't have a match to anything listed in the core rulebook, and most of them I presumed were built with taking a 5 point reduction in Starting Duty to obtain the extra 1000 credits in most instances.

If you download the follow up to the Beginner Box (which I believe is located in support section of the Beginner Box Page) that actually introduces the character's duty to you. Also in that adventure it gives those characters opportunities (or examples for the GM depending on point of view) to accomplish their core duty. I did do this just so I had a idea of what they were about in my mind or so I could grab my Beta book and be like, "Here is the table they are associated with.". Please note this is just my viewpoint not official, it includes the two downloadable characters, and note that the specializations listed are due to the talents you could take from the progression line.
