Nubs on small ships

By Sanctioned, in X-Wing Rules Questions

From what I understand, the plastic nubs count as part of the ship base when checking for overlap, this means that given the inclination I could deploy 2 x-wings facing each other and program 1 straight maneuvers on both preventing either from moving.
I have been informed that a B-wing cannot complete a 2K turn if it's base to base with a large ship as the ship base is the length of the 2 and the nubs would overlap.

Is this correct? It seems like in a world full of phantoms It mightn't be the worst plan,

Spend the first couple turns not moving then do respective 2 hards to free the lock, do that with your whole list and bring the enemy to you.

Thoughts?

I think you're overestimating just how useful this will be. It allows your opponent to control the approach completely. Some clever positioing could give them range 3 on the back of one of your ships without being in range of the other.

Edited Aminar's post for accuracy. Your opponent will probably approach from a flank, and when you disengage your frozen formation, only half of your ships (at best) will be able to engage in the first round.

I agree with the strategy notes above. And, for completeness, here's what the FAQ says about movement guides (nubs):

"Movement guides on ship bases are considered part of the ship’s base for every part of the game except measuring Range between ships."
