New to this, advice would be grateful.

By KillMaimBurn, in Star Wars: The Card Game

So I just got the core set recently, starting to get to get grips with it slowly (first ever lcg) really enjoying how it plays. In hindsight it seems that game of thrones is the only one with any momentum at the moment in my area (north east England) but I'm hoping to help get this game popular.

A few questions for the vets still on this forum -

The core set has 4 decks, each with 8 objectives. Is this Deck size how people play normally?

Is the game balanced? Don't want to invest in the game then find out one faction has some broken cards.

Is there a compendium of all the cards from all the releases? Would prefer knowing what to buy next instead of just picking random boxes.

Do people always use mixed decks or is sticking to one sub faction best?

Finally just to help with my next purchases what should I get next if I want my main dark side deck to be scum and villainy and light side to be rebels?

Thanks in advance to all who respond.

Normal legal decks require 10 sets total.

You'll hear a lot of cries of X faction is broken. This is normal for most card games i guess. Try to ignore it. Every meta is different

Cardgamedb has every objective set listed with pictures in their card spoilers section.

A lot of people use dual faction decks but some factions like Jedi play mono faction well.

For Scum and Villainy you have to get Edge of Darkness. For Rebels Hoth cycle had a lot of good sets for their speeder deck archetype.

Where in New England are you? We've got a group that plays in east-central Massachusetts.

Toqtamish answered things pretty well. I'd just like to add that in the long run, having two core sets, and two Edge of Darkness sets will give you more consistent decks. Although those two products are the only ones you'd ever "need" two of. Everything else will come with a complete playset (two copies of each non-"limit one" objective set).

Some great advice, thanks very much.

Didn't think about grabbing a second core set, will look into that and will definitely be ordering at least one edge of darkness set.

@doctormungmung Apologies, I should have been more precise - "north east" England is in the UK, out of the three different places that I frequent for my other hobbies only one seems to ever do things for lcg's and it's game of thrones.

There is a SW LCG UK/IRL Facebook group that has a player map on it showing players locations. Huge group. Join the group. It's active and they run events all over the UK. I'm on the FB group.

Cheers for that, will have a search for them.

FullyOperational ... I think it should work ... you pay the cost of "reveal a character from your hand to return a target unit you control with the same name to your hand." The cost is revealing the Unique character, the effect is moving the one in play to your hand which is then interrupted by Leia's forced interrupt. Even under FAQ 3.6, this is a valid initiation of the cost.

I think you posted this in the wrong thread. However, in the case of bouncing (Core) Leia with Heroes and Legends to put Jedi Leia in play is not the cost. The problem is that it's a 2-part effect separated by the word "then." Per the rulebook, you cannot do the part of the effect following the "then" unless you successfully complete the part preceding the "then." In this case, that doesn't happen because Leia does not make it back to your hand.
