Star Trek, that's a new map in Settlers of Catan, right?
Edited by VulfThere's only one way to find out.......
FIGHT!!!!!
Attack wing is the game with cheap toys painted in garish colours, instead of detailed miniatures.
Urgh I hate the attack wing model quality, yeah x-wing is expensive but you get the quality of the model I could not pay the same kind of money for those half arsed models.
And the scale is well off in attack wing, large ships may be a little small but all the fighters are to scale.

Apparently it's rather broken now as a game, too much released too quick and a few broken combo's with little play testing done.
- slow down FFG

Attack Wing is apparently all WizKidz. FFG just sold them a license.
We are considering running a Rebel/Empire game vs Borg.

Their ships should be about a third of the price. Plus the scale is insane, the tiny enterprise isn't even to scale with the Reliant. Bonkers! Reusing their old models just doesn't cut it. Buy Starfleet Fleet Captains, paint the ships, download stats from the internet. You just saved yourself hundreds... and have better paint jobs for sure LOL

Tone honest no. If it is not hot linked it is way to much trouble to watch on my Droid.

I meant for FFG not to fall into the same trap,
FFG isn't releasing things anywhere near at the rate ot the Star Trek knockoff. I think we're fine.
I feel bad for the O.P. as this thread has not gone the way he wanted.

Why would we do that? Everyone here knows X-Wing is the BEST miniatures game around. Attack Wing has a great theme, and the flight path movement sytem. Thats all it has going for it. X-Wing outpaces it in every way except swag given out at events. I suspect WhizKids does this as a lame apology for selling such sh*t-@ss minis.
I watched it, seen it before, doesn't really do anything for me. It's well made though.
I think we should have a scientific argument again about who'd win based on technology, cos those are always fun. I say Federation, because laser weaponry is considered obsolete in Star Trek, I'm not convinced even a super laser would penetrate a standard ship's shields, whereas the Empire doesn't have shielding to handle phase based weapons (as far as I know).
That said, it is obvious the Federation's ships are made super cheaply - if their shields are applied as well as their pain jobs they may be in trouble...
I've only played Attack Wing once. I didn't think it was so bad. As most others say, the model quality is awful. Their handling of the event promos where they actually give out unique ships and upgrades is crap too. You shouldn't have to win a tournament in order to get decent ships and cards.
After our game, my friend said that he thought Attack Wing feels more like Star Trek than X-wing feels like Star Wars. The rules for cloaking and the accompanying "sensor echo" action are cool and having to raise or lower your shields to perform certain actions makes your decisions a little more challenging. Also, EVERY ship comes with a mission scenario to play, something X-wing needs more of I think.
Actually for most of the Attack Wing miniatures (except the Enterprise A), the detail is there, it is just horrendously painted. I have repainted a few to look just as nice (if not nicer) than FFG Star Wars models.
Imho, Attack Wing does handle some things better than X-Wing, ordinance for example. Its main problem stems from no restrictions being placed on what can be played alongside what (with the exception of 8472 stuff). This leads to silly (and broken) things like Picard piloting a Romulan vessel with Borg upgrades.
Funnily enough if you go on the Attack Wing forums, they tend to talk about both games in high regard and recommend them both to new players. On these forums however...well you can read the posts above.
To the OP, the Star Trek ships are priced on a completely different scale. Further special abilities tend to be way more “out there”, such as the Fluidic Gate allowing an 8472 ship a onetime teleport almost anywhere on the map. Also note that some ships have as high as 6 attack dice and the average evasion is between 1-2. In X-Wing getting shots in the first place tends to be pretty easy, it is getting those shot to stick that is the hard part. Attack Wing plays the other way around with shots being really easy to stick once you get them lined up. Point for point, the Attack Wing ships win BIG.

Not surprising. Invoking a hotly contested subject that is sure to bring out the trolls, Video has nothing to do with either game so a misleading title and no description of why someone should click the link or an explanation of what the OP hopes to get out of the thread or why he posted it, just a bare link that could be anything.
This was pretty much a classic example of creating a thread that had no chance of doing anything all. Too bad to, because it was really hoping for a chance to talk about the actual game play differences between the two games.
Here's the video for anyone who wants it.
It is somewhat amusing.

You should look up thd destructive force of Star Wars Weaponry. If I remember correctly an X-Wings Lasers pack more punch than the Enterprises Phasers.I watched it, seen it before, doesn't really do anything for me. It's well made though.

That's it though - Star Trek technology isn't about delivering the most brute force - increasing the power means nothing if it's harmlessly deflected or passes straight through you.

yeah thats all I needed to actually watch it.
What I learned.
1. Star Wars Rules.
2. Star Trek Sucks.
3. Both sentences are the same number of characters.
4. OP asked a question on a Star Wars forum...everyone is surprised he didn't expect obvious answer.

Keh, nah, they do as much bashing of us in their vacuum as we bash them. For some reason they have this fixture in their heads that six asteroids are an unforgivable design flaw and that TIE Swarms are auto-win lists in the meta. Never mind that both of those things are changing.
I've played both. I think X-Wing is the superior product because it's better polished of the two. What drove me away from Attack Wing was the escalating meta and how powerfully broken some of the combinations could get, especially with some of the early exclusive prizes. X-Wing doesn't often have one-shot losses of 20+ point ships, but it can be frighteningly common in Attack Wing when playing competitively. Especially now that 6+ attack dice 360' attack Borg are now in play. It just seems like a constant ramp up to more and more power.
As an aside, cloaking is much more interesting here than in Attack Wing. The AW version felt like cheating, X-Wing feels like it needs skill to use properly...
One advantage Attack Wing does have over X-Wing is their adaptability and use of scenarios. With a few exceptions every X-Wing game I've seen is a deathmatch. That's fine, but scenario challenges could be nice too, and somehow Attack Wing managed to get a good hold on this. Between a third of their upgrade cards as characters and a detachable captain it seems they have more options for doing stuff there, like beaming crew down and doing something special with those upgrades.
But that's it. The minis can't compete with X-Wing and it's guaranteed to be broken if they continue with this expansion pace. And it's becoming clear Attack Wing is much less tested than X-Wing.

I know there is an episode where tng mocks a ship armed with lasers but no way would that star destroyer fail to knock the ship out of the air, star destroyer is the general term for a ship able to dominate an entire system with its fire power.
