Yeah, 6 attack base with 360 degree firing and unconventional movement. The most powerful attack on a ship that worries the least about maneuvers.
Also, Borg have a hull upgrade that eats criticals (criticals are banked below the card to a maximum of 6? before the upgrade is discarded). A card that catches the massive attack volley one would usually throw at this, cancels it, and throws half of it back.
Of course, also with cards that go and steal other upgrade cards from ships to assimilate them...
And they carry one of two 10 attack dice in the game (cutting beam, paired with Tractor beam).
Combined with no faction penalty and access to the best captains in the game, the Borg worry many players.
It catches 4 hits but is also a 10 point upgrade.
Also the 10 dice cutting beam is not that bad. It requires you to use the tractor beam action (which means you have to buy that upgrade as well). The tractor beam requires the target be within range band 1 when used and it ceases to function the moment they move out of that range (after you take the action but before you fire for example). And the weapon is diabled upon use.
The real powerhouse of the Sphere is the movement dial (It only moves in straight lines in all four directions) combined with the 360 arc.
The tactical cube also has the dial and arc, and has higher stats, but is such a large target (compared to the sphere) that it is actually alot easier to keep in arc and hammer (they both have 0 agility and no access to focus or evade).
