[POLL] Which of the product lines are you going to buy?

By Desslok, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I intend to collect the whole line. Even adventures like Jewel of Yavin and Beyond the Rim, I like having them and I can definitely find some pieces of them to use.

In our campaign I tend to create adventures out of whole cloth based on the PCs' backstories and obligations, but (for example), I just had a group in the AOR Beginner Game run into an arboreal octopus from Beyond the Rim, because I thought it was a cool monster.

Anyway, our campaign now is Edge of the Empire, but if the PCs feel like working with the Rebellion we could go in that direction, and later on if they want to start to incorporate Jedi stuff that's cool too when Force and Destiny is out.

I'm planning on buying pretty much every book for EotE. I'll definitely buy the core rulebook and maybe some splatbooks from AoR, but probably no adventures. And I'm hoping F&D lives up to my expectations enough to get me to buy that whole set of books (assuming my party's ready for that).

My party isn't particularly interested in the Empire vs. Rebellion, but we have a politico that wants to support the Empire to further her own causes, so I'm mainly getting AoR to have a wider variety of Imperial technology. If we ever wind up being swept into the war, I might start going after the AoR published adventures. We'll see where it goes!

I have EotE beginner box, core rulebook, suns of fortune, beyond the rim, and AoR beta.

Should I invest in all the career books for EotE? Do I need the AoR core since I have the beta? and is AoR beginner worth it?

thanks in advance!!

my first ever time GM'ing, and I'm loving it.

I like the career books but it would be ok to skip em if no one playing has that particular career.

AoR core is a nice book, but between the fan made Talent sheets and the Beta book you don't "need" AoR CRB.

I don't buy the beginner games but they have fans and they look nice.

Well, my group that went the furthest sorta fell apart. But I've ran the beginner game with close to 30 different people.

And I've got a solid group of 5 that is ready for regular sessions of EotE, but they haven't made custom characters yet. They only used the pre-mades from the beginner box.

So, I have a feeling that if they get started, we will want the Career books. (but I'd also like to let them buy something to invest in the game, rather than just me.. like the career books and talent decks).

The Beginner sets are a great way to get more dice and some nice maps and extra pieces.

So, in answer to this thread's question-- I want everything!! but as a GM I'm probably going to stick with Core Books (or betas), adventure modules, location books, and accessories.

I'll buy basically everything for AOR and EOE. For F&D though I'll probably only get the corebook and career books for Jedi pilots, and Jedi generals if there are any plus any sector books unless F&D has a lot more goodies of of interest to me than I suspect it will currently.

Have the BB, CRB, GM Kit and the career splats for Edge, Plan to get the same for AoR.

By the time we get to F&D, I'll definitely get the CRB but it would be extremely hard for me to see the value in the GM Kit for that one since I'll already have a well-worn used screen (Edge) and a shiny new replacement one ready (AoR). I also don't know if I care about career books for F&D until we know what the careers in it are. If it is a jedi/Force-user love-fest (i.e. nothing but Force-user careers) I'll pass b/c I'm not part of the "omg I must haz laser swords" demographic of Star Wars fans.

Published adventures... generally "meh" to me since I prefer to make custom material suited to the PCs from scratch than to spend the effort of reading someone else's material then working to adapt it. However, I understand that there is a market and need for published adventures to help the game lines so FFG should keep making them. I still got the Edge ones and plan to get Onslaught at Arda I, but I am highly unlikely to buy any further ones unless I suddenly find myself with more discretionary income than I can handle.

Currently GM'ing for my group, I have bought everything so far in the EotE line, my favorite of the line to play in. Will probably buy the AoR CRB at some point regardless if my group heads in the rebellion direction down the road. I might pick and choose career books out of that line that I enjoy. At this point, not interested in F&D, I'd rather enjoy the tuned down versions so far in EotE and AoR.

Will probably purchase all the sector books that are released to add more flavor to the games.

In my group, they all bought the CRB for EotE. One player bought Enter the Unknown, and is playing an Archaeologist. The Bounty Hunter bought Dangerous Covenants and tapped into the Enforcer spec. My Body Guard player plans to buy Dangerous Covenants when he feels ready to expand. And lastly my Smuggler Pilot player will probably hold out for the smuggler book when it is released.
