[POLL] Which of the product lines are you going to buy?

By Desslok, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

We were talking about overlap between the 3 product lines and I started wondering about how many people are going to maintain product line purity versus who is going to buy everything FFG puts out. So I found a free on-line poll and banged out a quickie. Take two seconds and click my wildly unscientific poll and satisfy my curiosity:

Which of the product lines are you going to buy?

Edited by Desslok

I'll get the CRB's from each line but that's it.

I'll probably buy all three CRBs, but I may be picky when it comes to sourcebooks and modules.

My GM has said that he plans to buy everything because he's a super nerd. I threw that last part in but that's the actual truth even if he said something anout being a completist, whatever that is. By that point, I had stopped listening. :P

I'd buy whatever a player that isn't the gm should buy like my brother has. But no electronic format is an issue for me so ffg will have to settle for my father and brother's moneys.

"Product line purity"? Really? Who would do that?

FFG made a wise move from a product management point of view deciding on three separate tones, but the distinctions are arbitrary and completely cross-compatible. It's like Lego. Which means, despite the marketing, there is only one product line.

I'll buy all 3 CRB's and probably every sourcebook.

I'll probably only buy 1 adventure from each line.

I don't typically buy canned adventures, and since my GM is running them all anyway, no real point to. I don't want the beginner games. Otherwise I'll have the CRBs, source, and splatbooks.

I'll buy every corerulebook and probably everything for EotE. Probably a lot of F&D too. But only among the products translated in French.

Three of them. And if I have enough money... all the other books too XD

Related: Who buys what?

Time was I'd buy everything for any game I was running and me mates would buy everything for games they were running. But with FFG's Star Wars we've started sharing the costs between us, somewhat.

Main GM (runs easily 5 times as many games as the rest of us) bought:

EotE Beginner and Core

Hired Guns splatbook

Manny's Player (GMed a bit, intends to do more) bought:

EotE Beginner and Core

GM Kit

Beyond the Rim

Jewel of Yavin

I bought:

Explorer splatbook

Dice

Manny and I bought:

AoR Beginner

I've bought everything except the AoR Beginner Game so far. I'd feel kinda bad if I bought all the career splatbooks for one core book, but not for the others.

"No, I'm sorry, the career you chose only has three specializations, while the career Robert chose gets six. Your dumb luck."

I'm hoping that with even three games, they still only release 1 Star Wars book a month.

16 splatbooks, a hard cover CRB for F&D, at least one adventure we know of, and a beginners game for F&D, that's 19 books which carries us to like JAN or FEB 2016 I believe. Throw is a regional book or three and a couple/three more adventures and we are almost to summer 2016. Right smack in the middle of the new movies.

I went with pick and choose as I have no interest in adventures but want to get everything else

Unless something comes out that gets universally panned before I get to the flgs, I'll probably get everything.

I'll end up with the 3 CRBs, about 5 sets of dice (I want enough for everyone at the table), and I have the two beginner boxes... as to what is at the table in my campaign... I'll probably stick with EotE for now although I may throw in AoR at some point. I'm going to wait and see on the last CRB being added until I see it.

All three CRB are a definite, as are the splats for EotE. Unless they're absolutley panned, I'll also pick up any EotE canned adventures too.

I may or may not pick up the class splats for AoR and leaning towards not getting the adventure unless they have something akin to Lawerence of Arabia or James Bond like. I'm not big on military operations stuff, but class exspansions and more toys are always nice.

The Force CRB I'll get for sake of completion, but nothing beyond that. I'm not for Jedi/Sith wankery, but I realize palyers do like playing that sort of thing. If they want more in depth force abilities and such, they can get the books themselves.

man how could you think of playing only one of the core books? what's sw without scoundrels? the rebel alliance? or jedi? seems like these are all just part of one wholly compatible system to me.

A small add to my post. I would prefer a digital version of the books instead the paper one.

I want it all, and I want it RIGHT NOW!

That is to say, I'm buying just about everything for all three product lines.

I want to see how they handle Jedi before I blindly include them (my group's decision, not just mine). I want to see if they unbalance things too much -- based on many previous versions (electronic and paper), once Jedi arrive in the game, everyone needs to be Jedi or not. Again, my whole group more or less has the same opinion... I don't want a single character to be in the spotlight 99% of the time.

As to Rebellion, that will be introduced as part of their progression.

I'll probably be buying most of the books from each product line. Aside from the core rulebooks (both Beta and final release of each line), the adventures are looking more and more iffy on my part (Operation at Arda for AoR does nothing for me based upon it's description), but I'll certainly pick up the career splatbooks as they're released, and likely any location books like Suns of Fortune as well.

I agree Donovan. The Arda adventure was going to be a purchase for me simply because of the mass battle rules.

I hate paying $25 for what is probably a couple pages of rules though.

Mind you - don't know if you're into canned games or not, but you could probably adapt the adventure for use with EotE with minimal fuss*. So it may not be a total loss.

* At least going by the descriptions thus-far. Opinion subject to change when we actually get the book.
