Does anyone know if similar apps for the Android are being developed for iOS?
Ya ya ya, poor people with Apple products. Please refrain from the "better" phone/pad debate.

Umm...What are you talking about?
Genuinely have no idea what you are on about. The only app in existence that relates to x wing is the dice app, and its available on both platforms.
And on the great platform debate, all platforms pretty much do everything now anyway. I thought the arguments stopped somewhere around 2010...

So, what apps for xwing are out there? What do you use and why?
I, for one, would like a list builder that can function offline as some of the places I play have crappy reception. I'd like the ability to build and save on the fly, as well as pull up saved lists without a signal.
I know some of the web-based builders supposedly function on a mobile device, but they sure aren't optimized to do so.

Personally I use these:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pellenproductions.android.xwingbattlecomputerpro
Really good hit probability calculator.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=es.eko.squadronbuilder
Fairly good squadron builder, useful if you need to generate a squad in a hurry.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dylanp.xwingsoundboard
Arguably the best soundboard for a match
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.guidokessels.xwc
Quickly reference every card in the game.

I believe there is an Xwing Tournament Organiser app for IOS. I DLd it thinking it would have an army builder included .. bzzzzt.
As mentioned above by another forum member, I'd love to see an offline list builder available.
No Android, do want more IOS apps that would be fun and useful for the game though!!!
If you want a great squad builder that works offline and runs on iOS, try BattleScribe. You can get the app here: http://itunes.apple.com/app/id541445618
BattleScribe is a generic list builder, which means it works for just about any war game, but it also means you need to download a catalogue file for each game you play. The X-Wing file is here: http://battlescribedata.appspot.com/repos/swxwing/index.bsi
You can just put that link right into BattleScribe and it will keep the file up to date. I'm the one who updates the X-Wing file so it is easy enough to PM me if you have a question or find a mistake.
There are lots of files for other games (not made by me) available, so if you play 40K, WarMachine, or whatever, you can use the same app for all your lists. You can see other files here: http://battlescribedata.appspot.com
Battlescribe is what I use no connection needed and the guys that do the files keep it updated.
I use the droid squadron builder all the time. You can save lists, look at the various cards and maneuver templates, all offline. Its been updated with everything up to Wave 5, including the spoiled cards from Rebel Aces.
I know that other compedative games have rules for tournament play that disallow a player to use an electronic device during play. I'm also aware that there is a rule allowing the dice app as long as it remains in view of both players. It would bother me to have a player digging into hie/her phone as we play a compedative game. I would definitely insists the player keep the phone in site of both of us at all times if they are looking up info on it.
So if I'm at an official FFG sanctioned tournament can I use a hit calculator on my phone or tablet?

Nothing is secret. Granted it's a little rude, but there's nothing in the rules against it, and no possible way to cheat with it.
Edited by OsoroshiiWhat exactly could they be looking up that would alter a game of X-Wing?I know that other compedative games have rules for tournament play that disallow a player to use an electronic device during play. To catch a cheater you must think like one. I could very easily have a friend watch you set you dials and text them to me. I know, I know, fly casual. Believe me there are people who would do that kinda thing if they can get away with it.What exactly could they be looking up that would alter a game of X-Wing?I know that other compedative games have rules for tournament play that disallow a player to use an electronic device during play. Yeah no argument here it is definitely is in the realm of paranoia. Really the rules for tournament play could be a little tighter for my likes. I've always been amazed there's no rule for outside help, like a friend to remind you to take actions. Extremly rude, but not against the rules for say.

Sometimes you don't need a rule. Any player that tried nonsense like that would be... Well, not laughed at, but certainly told to knock that crap off. Rules should not cover basic etiquette. Nothing in the rules says I have to wear clothes either.
As long as your still using your hands to turn your dials 8)

OMG to funny.
I use Battlescribe. You can make any amount of lists. I have about 20 right now but I add more every day.
