XXYZ build attempt 1

This is the first time I actually sat down to build a list not on the fly..

Lmk what you think.. I may try this Monday at my local store.

---Wedge--- with R2D2

---Rookie XWing--- with hull upgrade and R5D8

---Gold Squad YWing--- with ion turret and R2 astro

---Bandit Z95--- with cluster missile

I think I'd rather have Biggs with an R7 over the Rookie. Without him Wedge will probably be your first casualty, but if Biggs can let Wedge survive long enough to reach the end game he and R2 should take over completely. You might also be better off trading one of the astromechs to give the Bandit an Assault Missile instead of the Clusters, for crowd control.

There is some good ideas here. You may try this:

Wedge Antilles + Predator (32)

Biggs Darklighter + R2-F2 (28)

Gold Squadron Pilot + Ion Cannon Turret (23)

Bandit Squadron Pilot + Assault Missiles (17)

So far the imps I've seen at my local games run mostly 3-4 ship groups. Mostly interceptors, and not in formation.. So assault missiles seems a waste (for what I've been seeing)

Also I don't have Predator (yet).

Then Wedge is probably going to die on the first round of shooting. Maybe the second. He's both your most powerful and most expensive ship, and once he's down you might start struggling to kill things. To say he has a huge target on his back would be an understatement.

Just remember you'll only have 23 hp and 9 attack dice. I know the ion rolls 3 but you can only do 1 damage with it. Once the clusters are spent you'll be relying on your droids to keep you alive.

I like R5 better on Y-Wings than R2, but that's an incredibly minor point.

If you're facing a lot of elite, out of formation interceptors, I don't think your cluster bandit would work consistently. He will get outmaneuvered a lot. Plus, IF you manage to TL a target AND los/range, your Z will have to survive a volley with (probably) no focus for defense. Moreover, clusters are bad against 3 agility ships. Even dice are really bad with no focus or TL to stack the odds.

Here's what I'd do:

33: Wedge w/ Swarm tactics, R3-A2

20: Airen Cracken w/ VI

22: Rookie w/ R2 astro

24: Gold w/ iion turret, R2 astro

You'd lose the missile but instead fire at PS 10, 9, 9, 2 and Cracken could give Wedge a focus+TL. Interceptors absolutely cannot joust against that squad.
