1 ship, 35 points.

By nikk whyte, in X-Wing

Echo + VI + ACD

or

Soontir + PTL + Royal + targetting comp + hull

My favorite 35 points right now is Itbisam w/ Engines and PtL. Kind of like a tough Interceptor.

For this type of thing, I usually go with a Y wing, maybe Horton with Ion turret, and possibly R2-D2, or go with a grey and add a Proton, or Engine upgrade.

Typically they aren't considered a huge threat unless you're known to be the best pilot at the store, and they're very easy to fly. Keep out of the center, just circle the outside, and Ion high priority targets, then let your opponents tear each other apart.

Run Kyle Katarn around the edge with Predator, Recon spec, Ion, Moldy Crow. Build all the tokens. Become virtually unkillable late game. :P

No need to have both modly crow title AND recon spec - crow title is good enough on it's own for that type of game. Consider this:

Kyle Katarn + Predator + Blaster Turret + Chewbacca + Moldy Crow (35)

Easy for me....Porkins (26) + PTL (3) + R5-D8 (3) + Hull Upgrade (3) = 35 points of fun.

It all depends on the win conditions.

Last man standing:

Tycho w PTL and Shield upgrade, don't attack at all until you have to

Most kills:

Fel w PTL Targeting Comp and Stealth (or Hull), avoid combat and kill targets of opportunity when presented

Xwing are too fragile and don't have a strong enough dial for these things, IMHO.

Details are forthcoming on the win conditions, as I haven't actually participated in a furball yet. I'm really liking some of the y wing options here though. It seems "under the radar" enough to get me through at least the first few casualties.

For our 35 pointer I ran the ULTIMATE TROLL!!!

Turr + PtL + RGT + HU + SU is exactly 35 points and can give everyone a headache.

My pick is Turr loaded out to 35.

If we must consider Scum I'd take porkins.

I think this game mode would be fun if you did this: Take one card from each ship, and everyone takes one at random. That is what ship you have to use (with whatever pilot you want). That way not everyone is going to rush straight for the interceptor and the phantom, and there won't be any duplicate ships on the field which would be more exciting and fun to see.

I run a school club and I've been running a 35 point mini tournament, and it's been ace, some elite pilot builds (Fel, ptl, targeting computer and hull) some 2 named tie builds, and some tooled up basic pilots (blue plus FCS and ion cannon, and hull I think)

it's been a really good way to introduce the kids to the game, give them a competitive challenge and, most importantly complete games including set up and pack up on a 50 minute lunch break

Oh, and we play on a 2' square board with 4 asteroids, which makes manoeuvring tight, and possibly makes ion a bit too powerful. But it means I can set up 3 tables using my 2 starter sets

Empirewise, I might run a Kir Kanos, with SD, title and. Hull upgrade. Stay on the edge and snipe when you've got an opportunity.

Rebel, Ibtisam, Elusiveness and Sensor Jammer

My play group and I ran a 4 person free for all @ 30pts a while back.

I ran a Ptl Green with SD and a missle (forget which one now) against Wedge + R2, Horton + Turret & stuff and Jax + Stuff.

The plan was to go under the radar... Almost worked. Horton got focused down to turret rage + missile to face, Wedge followed next and I almost had it until I lost the SD due to poor action management (should know when to evade and NOT to boost!) and then Jax slapped me in the final pass.

I like the idea of 35pts for a bit more customization, personally I'd probably stay with A wings for the maneuverability... Can't wait for Aces!!

I guess the only advice I've got is that, whatever ship is your preference, you've got to have a high PS for shooting early and the end game, but not be too much of a threat that you get focused down early. I obviously haven't got that perfected yet... ;)

Edit: For Empire, RGP Interceptors probably stand a good chance...

You know, I'd have mixed feeling about someone running Jax. The BIG issue is simply his ability which screws with EVERYBODY who's in range. Sometimes an opponent might light like but at other times you'll just piss more people off using it. It may be a "free for all" but you have an ability that can easily turn everyone against you.

Another vote for fel with ptl, stealth and tc :D

Some really good ideas here. I tend to agree that certain ships will paint a big target on you, like Jax and Phantoms, which makes them not-so-good ideas.

Ibtisim with Advanced Sensors and Opportunist... you will get enough opportunities to get a focus with 4 dice and a reroll of 1

potent

IMO, Ibby and AS don't mix too well. She wants stress, and if you're stressed you're not going to be taking actions before you can clear it with a green move.

My favorite 35 points right now is Itbisam w/ Engines and PtL. Kind of like a tough Interceptor.

That's better.

Rebel, Ibtisam, Elusiveness and Sensor Jammer

So is that.

Academy TIE with Munitions Failsafe. No one wants to shoot the special kid ^_^

Echo's largest threat can't be played (Han solo)..

He would be nasty in this type of game. Skirt around the enge and pick off vulnerable ships.

My local league does a Tag-Team Furball, in which you get 2 35-pointers, but only one can be on the field at a time.

Last game, we proved that Phantoms win. Just, straight up.

Col. Vessery's pilot ability works VERY well in a multi-man melee scenario, as he doesn't require the red target-lock on his victim to be allied with him. Defenders are also very survivable, and any ship that can disengage that freely from combat is a winner.

Similarly for Etahn A'Baht, who gives a boost to anyone who shoots at THAT GUY. 3 points left for upgrades, and 3 shields, implies R5-P9 to me, but feel free to expiriment.

Horton Salm + Ion Cannon Turret also does surprisingly well. He coaxes an enemy into positions where they don't want to be, allowing the other vultures to come in and take out the "bigger" threat.

Jek Porkins + R5-D8 + Hull Upgrade + PTL = 35.

Any ship that can take R2-D2 should.

Any upgrade that says "Attack someone else", particularly Rebel Captive, is practically an auto-include.

Also, ask your TO about the interactions of Support ships.

If "Dutch", Garven, Kyle, Howlrunner, Jonus, et c can be used to benefit other players, they're less likely to attack you, as you're actively helping them. Go Team Cleric!

Tie Defender + Engine upgrade = 34 points.

Post-Rebel Aces, I'd be tempted to try Tycho with Rockets, PtL and either Daredevil or Expert Handling (probably Daredevil, to allow some semblance of K-turning). 34/35 points, and you get what is possibly the most agile ship in the game with a nice alpha strike to take out your biggest rival. Could also trade the Rockets for Chardaan and a Shield Upgrade, if you want to appear less threatening and get some extra durability.

What about Etahn A'baht with an R7-T1 droid?

Set up focused target locks for late game kills and keep heat off me by giving other people crits?

Rhymer + APT + PtL

I've decided on Etahn A'baht with FCS.

his ability keeps me around a little longer than it should, and I'll have TL forever.

Gr75 (30) + Backup Shield Generator (3) + Duty Free Title (2)

Just laugh as all the small ships get squished in your path and have to team up to threaten you, meanwhile each turn you're putting 2 stress tokens on a ship at up to range 3. Of course Tycho with PTL or even Soontir with PTL will laugh at your stress tokens, but anything else will cry.
