Worst Build Imaginable

Shadow Squadron Pilot + Darth Vader, Enhanced Scopes, Engine Upgrade

I love the phanton that moves first and boosts without knowing where his target is, then uses Vader twice and kills himself.

Bwahahaha. For me this one is the winner.

Two otherwise great ships with upgrades that totally negate what makes them so useful. A phantom that always moves first and two shuttles with a worthless firing arc. Glorious.

It's both weak and infinitely more satisfying than spamming as many weak ships as possible. Perhaps what I like most is that with different upgrades this would actually be a very strong list. It's purely the upgrades that ruin it.

You sir win +2 internets!

I'm not to keen on having to play a game where the goal is to inflict the worst possible build on my opponent. While the squad building exercise is entertaining, actually flying the resulting squads would be tedious. You need to change the rules a bit to end up with a more rewarding game.

Perhaps it should be something like: Divide the squad points by the number of players. Each player builds a ship for each player at that point cost. Everyone sits in a circle. The player to left of you picks one of the ships you built. This continues around the circle until you are left with the remaining ship. Start with the next person and repeat the process. Each player ends up with a squad where they picked first, second and so on. Keep in mind that if you build a bad squad, you are most likely going to end up with the worst ship out of that squad. Maybe have a rule that each squad built can only contain one of each ship type.

Read it and weep:

Jan Ors — HWK-290 25

Draw Their Fire 1

Targeting Coordinator 4

Stygium Particle Accelerator 2

Kyle Katarn — HWK-290 21

Expose 4

Targeting Coordinator 4

Stygium Particle Accelerator 2

Roark Garnet — HWK-290 19

Targeting Coordinator 4

Stygium Particle Accelerator 2

Bandit Squadron Pilot — Z-95 Headhunter 12

I put this very thing out a while back. The idea is that it can be as worthless a squad as you wish, so long as the person that made it up can fly it to victory once the tables are turned the next round. It really is an interesting (and funny) exercise in resourcefulness, creativity and un-orthodox tactics.

i played some random lists off x-wing builder withmy friend. they are a TON of fun.

fly casual. play your junky ships. =)

but by all means, if the randomizer gives you a hawk without a turret, reroll.

How about this

Captain Jonus

2x Advanced Proton Torpedoes

2x Assault Missiles

Proton Bombs

Daredevil

Engine Upgrade

Major Rhymer

Advanced Proton Torpedoes

Proton Bombs

Expose

Stealth Device

100 Points

I was thinking about something along the lines of fully decked bombers, which kind of matches this topic - a bit ironic. Without knowing the game mechanics, putting a lot of missiles under its wings sounds natural. From my perspective it is one thing they didn't do well in terms of fitting the theme and the bomber role - even if they seem to rebalance the secondary weapons at the moment. My guess would be, that they wanted to prevent the secondary weapons from becoming the only way to go in the first rounds of expansions and balanced them intentionally a bit under the primary fire options - with a plan to readdress this issue later on when the usability of sec.weaps is a bit more established - but I'm veering a bit of topic. :)

funny. I ran the following list at regionals and it is sooooooooooo bad

Echo w/ VI, ACD,IA

Darth w/ Sqd Leader, AM

Scimitar Sqd w/AM, APT

anyone who does not have a tremendous amount of experience will suck with Echo for the first 3 to 5 games. His learning curve is just that high. Additionally Darth does very little damage after he blows his wad. And the scimitar will have a hard time getting into range 1 without bumping on those large targets that APT wants to be used against. Also it has only 2 Assault Missiles so it cannot even finish the swarm off if it gets a good hit. All in all I would say this is a truly horrible list and it didn't really do anything well enough to be viable. And I proved its non-viability by finishing last and being wiped from the table in all but one game.
