Where is Rogue Squadron?

By simple31, in X-Wing

I do think any Rogue Squadron Title card must be a support buff for allies rather than _just_ a power buff for the individual pilot. For instance: Ethan* A'baht's pilot ability would have been a Rogue Squadron Title Card.

*I don't care how the card is printed. Someone clearly transposed that A and H on his name and everyone is pretending it wasn't a typo. I'm not going to go along with it. The sooner we admit this is a mistake, the happier we'll all be.

How about not ? Aliens tend to have non-human names. Strange, I know.

Checklist of things I'd like to see, along with Rogue title cards:

• Pilot packs to have pilots in alt ships, like Maarek Stele in a Defender (where he belongs)

• TIE x1 love—Chardaan Refit or similar?

• Y-Wing love—crew and munitions slots?

• Kasan Moor!

• One Imperial huge ship: Rebels-era Gozanti, an Imperial-grey Consular-class frigate, or something new from FFG

And of course, Kettch Pilot Card. Yub, Yub.

I'd much rather see a Wraith Squadron X-Wing in an Aces pack, with some of the Wraith pilots.

piloting a black fighter with an incongruously cheerful green and goldcheckerboard pattern on the bow

Something similar to http://wraithsquadron.livejournal.com/130315.html . The quote is taken from the book "Wraith Squadron" to describe Wraith Leader's X-Wing.

Could have Garik Loran, Voort saBinring, Kell Tainer and a Wraith Squadron generic at PS 3 or 5. Abilities would be offensive but not directly damaging, so things like blocking an opponent's action or something.

Wraith's over Rogues, such heresay is enough to send me scampering to the nearest Imperial warlord.

Rogue Squadron used lots of different ships, didn't it? So while I think a title card is on the right track, it wouldn't make sense to limit it to just X-Wings.

The Rogue Squadron title should be playable on any non-unique Rebel small-base ship that's PS3 or higher. I don't know what it would give, though ... maybe an EPT slot?

Only in the Rogue Squadron video game series for the N64/Gamecube. I'm pretty sure otherwise they're strictly an X-wing outfit aside from a brief stint in E-wings.

Depends what you're reading. Sure in the novels, this is the case. In the graphic novels or 'comics' it was a mixed unit. They flew anything and everything.

An xwing TIE fighter Aces set would be interesting. There has been enough love for the interceptors.

There can never be too much interceptor love.

Give us 181th instead!

Isn't that what saber squadron is?

Of course it is possible Lucas/Disney have decided that Rogue Squadron never happened and that in episode VII we will still have Red Squadron flying around.

Rogue could be an X-wing title, maybe add Boost or Barrel Roll and increase PS by 2? Cost two points so you can field 4 like RGP? Maybe the pack could include X-wing versions of Tycho, Ibby, Corran with appropriate costs?

I thought of this idea as well. A title card that gives it an evade action or something that help X-wings survive better would be good.

I just felt a great disturbance in the force...

Though to be fair red squadron had already been disbanded into Rogue by Empire Strikes Back... they use their Rogue call signs onhoth. So Rogue Squadron has movie armour!

Love this idea, FFG make it so.

problem is there are no "generic" rogue squadron pilots, all of them made a name for them self,so all of them would and are unique pilots.

best bet is a title used for unique x-wing pilots only

And Alpha Squadron as well. Saber is the 2nd/181st (Fel's unit), Alpha the 1st/181st.

I'd agree with doing a Rogue Squadron Title card - that way you can put it on the right characters, regardless of what craft they're in.

It would still be nice to get a box with cards/ships to move everyone who should have an X-wing into one (including Fel, for completeness), but I'm in no rush for it.

In terms of gameplay, I'd agree that Y-wings and TIE advanced are something which needs focusing on.

Guys ofc I know that Saber Squadron is the 181st!

But to me it`s the same with Red Squadron of the X-wings.

What I ment was, that If they are to release an Rouge Squadron expansion,

they should release an 181st Elite Squadron group aswell.

Perhaps with all namned pilots already released, they can make

title cards that give the benefits of just flying with other from the same squadrons.

Now that I'm not opposed to. It pleases my inner storyline obsessive to see a squad consisting of pilots from the same squadron - all rogues, or all black squadron pilots, or the 181st all-stars, or whatever.

It'd be nice if there was some game mechanic to reward doing so - not, I hasten to add, for free (either the pilot is the right price or they aren't!) but "ABCD Squadron" title cards might be quite nice.

Part of me would like to have a generic X-Wing pilot called "Rogue Squadron Pilot" akin to the Royal Guard Pilot. However the idea of it being a generic title that can be given to any rebel ship...it would have to be well tested to make sure any ability it would give wouldn't be OP.

Or it could be the first card that works together like.

"This title allows you to perform the actions of another ship with the same title if that ship is at within range 1-2." So say you have an X-Wing, an A-Wing and a B-Wing all with the title. The X-Wing could do a boost action, the A-Wing could perform a barrel roll and the B-Wing could perform an evade."

On Hoth the snowspeeder defense is called Rogue Group. And unless my memory is failing me a rogue callsign is never used in an x-wing the movies.

Not that FFG seems to care about the EU wipe. Multiple ships, every named Imperial pilot aside from Vader, and a large chunk of the Rebel pilots are all EU, and Wave 5 is adding even more.

Tis true most of the rogues are well known.

Again though, the red squadron pilot generic is rogue squadron. AKA there already is a rogue squadron generic available...

red squadron = rogue squadron...

Sort of but not really? The original members, the two surviving members of Red Squadron from the Deathstar, came from Red Squadron, but Rogue Squadron while Red Squadron was a regular fighter unit Rogue was built with the intention of being an elite unit. The Red Squadron pilot in game not having an EPT makes it a poor stand in for what's supposed to be the alliance's elite fighter unit, especially when their opposite Imperial pilot card Saber Squad interceptor does have EPTs.
