Yes, yes it can. If there's vitality gain at any point in the ability, it will cancel the entire ability, not just the vitality gain.

Ok I need to ask this so if you have a foundation that negates vitality gain you can negate CB ?

Depends on the wording.

If it sez something like, "After your opponent gains vitality, negate/cancel that vitality gain" then Chester's will still negate YOUR ability, but the player who used Chester's will not gain any vitality.

If it sez "After your opponent plays an ability which causes them to gain vitality, negate that ability" then Chester's is completely negated and will have no effect at all {so the thing that Chester's cancelled will still go through}

important distinction: if the ability cancels "the vitality gain", the cancellation part of chesters will go by unscathed. prominent noblewoman works like this because it cancels the entire effect, which blankets both the vitality gain and the cancel.

Once again, it depends on the ability. Prominent Noblewoman says it cancels the entire ability when played, but Ice Coffin of the Sleeping Ancients only says players may not gain vitality so the cancellation part of Chester's may still take effect through that restriction.

Cause of this I wanna know would the negate vitality part negate Rejection ?
