Putting together a side for fun and looking to do a 5 ship Rebel build. So far I have:

Wedge

Biggs

2x Bandit Squadrons

This leaves 22 points in my squadron for a fifth ship. I was thinking either:

Rookie Pilot (to fly in formation with Wedge and Biggs)

Green Squadron + Predator (to use as a flanker)

Blue Squadron (Probably fly it with the two X's the same as I would the Rookie)

The A-Wing or B-Wing method leaves me at 100, whereas the Rookie leaves me at 99 to bid for initiative. Thoughts? Opinions?

Biggs wants to be protecting glass cannons. X's, and B's fall into this category since they have 3 attack dice, although B's less since they are about 20% more durable. So I would nix the A right away, even with Refit.

22 points is a B, so.... get a B-wing. It's better than an X-wing. Even without upgrades, its more than 1 point better.

This is a pretty good looking squad actually. I am going to blatantly steal it and use it sometime. Thank you.

Almost any 5+ ship rebel build made with Z's and Refit As is going to be better than BXXYY, but the above is looking really good. The Y's get downgraded to Z's, but the X's go from Rookies to 2 of the best named pilots in the game. I like it!

It is a killer list.

Some thoughts on altering it.

Change Wedge for Wes, not as deadly as Wedge, but perhaps less of a target and improves everyone else who shoots his target.

Also Tam + R7, doesn't offer the same benefit that Biggs does, but is very hard to kill for the same points. Especially if he makes it to the end game.

Actually Tarn + R7 was the first one I put in this build before I switched him to Biggs to shield Wedge. I do like the idea of Wes with Tarn. So I will probably dabble in running both. Pairing Tarn and Wes together, and Biggs with Wedge.

WesTarn is really fun. They have so much combo potential and fit well with 4 Zs.

4zs is exactly 100 points. You'll have a rough time with Phantoms, but other than that, tons of bulk, good firepower, great combos.
