Wave 4 performances

By sardaukarr, in X-Wing

Hi guys,

I've just moved house then fried my brains at Glastonbury, I've missed all the forum action of the wave 4 ships and haven't had the cash to order them yet let alone fit in a game.

I know it's a little lazy of me but you guys are pretty friendly can anyone just fire me a quick summary of how the ships are getting on in play please :-)

Again sorry if I'm being lazy I have had a quick rummage through the forum :-D

Thanks super Dave :-)

This is why I made this thread:

:)

String search for "wave 4". You'll find the Final Cut lists there for 2 Regionals: Mesa, AZ, and Singapore.

  • Named phantoms with Veteran Instincts + Advanced Cloaking Device are making a showing, and it's pushing for even more YT-1300's as a counter. However, YT-1300 needs gunner or PS9+ to properly counter the Phantom. Whisper won at the Arizona Regional, and likely never saw a YT-1300 + Gunner in the finals.
  • Defenders haven't made a showing at all. Probably too expensive.
  • Z-95s are getting splashed around quite a bit. They're very cost effective.
  • E-wings have seen occasional use but haven't made it very far into the Final Cut. Like the Defender, they're very costly.

I do find it funny that a man so worried about statistics will base this off 2 data points from so early in a release. This wave needs to mature a bit before we can start tossing around blanket statements. People are set into their own forms of metas which the E and Defender don't meld into. Give it time for a shift in meta and I do believe you will see more of the costly ships.

He asked for the current state of affairs. That's what I gave. It's obvious that we don't have much data yet with only two wave 4 Regionals, and we need more time for the meta to settle out, but until then, this is the best we've got. Everything in my post are just the basic recaps, with 3 commentary statements on the ship costs:

  • Defenders are probably too expensive.
  • Z-95s are very cost effective.
  • E-wings are very costly.

The commentary on point efficiency / cost is NOT based on Regionals data. It is based on data in this MathWing thread, dating back weeks / months before release:

http://community.fantasyflightgames.com/index.php?/topic/100360-using-lanchesters-square-law-to-predict-ships-jousting-values-and-fair-point-values-work-in-progress/?p=1000109

Non-named pilot usage in wave 3 Regionals is almost a direct overlap of the ships' cost efficiency predicted by the MathWing thread. So far the MathWing predictions for wave 4 are looking very accurate, although it has a low degree of certainty with the Imperial ships due to their unique capabilities.
