Let's Design Wave 1 for Prequel Ships!

By SpikeSpiegel, in X-Wing

Guys guys guys.Nobody wants characters that aren't different by the era XWMG takes place in. Just the ships. And if they DO, then they're silly! But seriously. I want an ETA-2 something fierce. AnakinsEta2.jpgLOOK AT IT.ITS SO SLICK.

Search the forums for "Vader's Ride". There's an ETA-2 I can get behind! And would commission to a US based painter.

I for one would LOVE to see a version of the prequel era ships to play with on this game system , the ARC-170 against droid fighters is x-wing vs, ties to me. The more toys on the table the better I like it. Is there a scale chart to make what is out already out fit the 1/270 scale for prequel toys or models?

I'm not a massive fan of moving prequel ships into the game, but there is nothing more I love than theorycrafting. I'll get to work on some things for you!

Starting with:

I'll do a V-Wing later :)

Would the arc 170 have a rear firing arc?

I don't think prequel ships and OT ship should mix. In some of the wookiepedia entries there is mention of technological advances during the clone war era, like between the delta-6 and Eta-2 jedi starfighters. I think it would decrease x-wing's average attack dice from 2 to 1, leaving no room for low attack ships. A starfighter during the clone wars would have to have 2 attack, and then you'd run into issues with costing the ships. The Y-Wing, Z95, HWK, ORS YT-1300, and Firespray are all examples of ships from that era and only the firespray has 3 attack dice, and thematically that would be attributed to it being the personal craft of a mercenary, and more inclined to be heavily modified, like the Named YT pilots.

I disagree the tech on blasters would be equally as powerful during both eras, so no need to reduce the dice.

Jar jar crew card can't ever exist, even on April fool's day.

I agree.

He should be a pilot card

I sketched this out on BGG a while back, this is what I'd like to see:

Core set:
1x Naboo N-1 Starfighter
2x Vulture Droid
Wave 1:
Delta-7 Starfighter
Scarab-class Droid Starfighter
Naboo Royal Starship
Star Courier/Sith Infiltrator
Wave 2:
V-19 Torrent
ARC-170 Starfighter
Droid Tri-Fighter
Hyena-class Droid Bomber
Wave 3:
Eta-2 Interceptor (Jedi)
Nu-class Attack Shuttle
Nantex-class Territorial Defense Starfighter (Geonosian fighter)
Belbullab-22 Starfighter (Grievous' heavy starfighter)
Wave 4:
Alpha-3 Nimbus-class V-wing Starfighter
BTL-B Y-Wing (Clone-era Y-Wing)
Porax-38 Starfighter
Slave I (Jango Fett paint)
I'd love to see repaints at some point too, like the blue N-1 or the CIS-styled Vultures.

As myself and others have pointed out, I think the best bet for prequel ships now is with the new third faction. They already have most of their ships originating from the clone war era anyways, so it's possibly other clone war era ships could be in use by them.

They had a chance to release a similar but different game, but decided to go a different route with armada. They also could have made prequel specific factions, but went with scum and villainry instead. But by doing that they ended the debate over who would get prequel ships: rebels or empire or both, now they have an outlet in the third faction.

-Not just the Naboo N1 Starfighter but a full line of Nubia star drive line of ships like the Naboo Cruiser.

-Delta-7 Starfighter Eta-2 Interceptor (Jedi) ARC-170 Starfighter

CIS

-Geonosian fighter Droid Starfighter

-Porax P-38 starfighter Droid Tri-fighter

-Techno Union Starfighter Droid Gunship
