game theory crafting rules

By Edrahil135, in X-Wing

So, not a standard question for these forums, but here goes.

Several months ago was the last time i saw a reference to this, and i havent been able to find the threads i was reading.

In some of the threads related to balance and point value, some of the more versed members here referenced a rule or a law used in game theory. I am trying to find out what that law/rule is named. Google has been unhelpful (but its not easy to search for game theory without coming up with the mathematical references).

So, here's my cry for help. Thanks guys!

Can you say what this rule was about? General area of relevance? Something?

I'm guessing it's Lanchester's Laws, although technically speaking I think it belongs to military theory rather than game theory.

These rules talked about balance of ships in regards to their point cost. It wasn't quite lanchesters laws, but those are interesting

I used Lanchester's Laws (and some MathWing probability number crunching) to attempt to mathematically predict the point values on all the ships in this thread:

It might or might not be what you were looking for.

Edit:

These rules talked about balance of ships in regards to their point cost.

That's exactly what I did. I happened to use Lanchester's Laws to get there.

Are you asking for the "general" point formula?

1 pt per PS

8pts per att over 1

8pts per def over 1

3pts per hull over 3

4.25 per shield

considerations for dial, PS over 5, less hull, etc.
