Query about specialisations

By Majeh_XIII, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Hello,

i am currently awaiting my rule book in the post and i have been reading the beta book, the beta briefly touches upon the fact that you can swap out specialisations, can someone please advise me as to how this all works? can we switch these out to different ones at a later date as books come out with new ones?

You'll want to grab a copy of the Beta Updates on the FFG archive support page. Or here's a direct link to the pdf.

In short, there is no more specialization cap and no more swapping out specializations. In-career Specializations cost 10*N XP, where N is the number of specializations you would have upon purchasing that specialization. Add +10 XP to the cost for non-career specializations.

EDIT: So for example, a Bounty Hunter that starts off as an Assassin can buy into the Gadgeteer specialization (gaining access to those four bonus career skills and the talent tree) for 20 XP. Later, the Bounty Hunter decides he needs some more social finessing talents, so he buys into the Politico specialization for 40XP (he could have bought the Survivalist specialization for only 30, but he doesn't like that spread of talents). He gains the 4 career skills and can begin to purchase the of the Politico talents.

Much later, he takes his first step into a larger world and purchases the Force-Sensitive Exile specialization for 40 XP (it's a universal specialization, so no +10 XP cost). He gains Force Rating 1 and can buy down the talent tree.

You can add specializations as you go for cost in xp. You begin character creation by selecting a Career and then a Specialization in that Career field. You can then add additional specializations for xp as you go. It's cheaper to buy one in your chosen Career, but not required.

I see so there is no longer a limit from what i am reading there so i can have a character who can have all the specs in both hired gun and smuggler if i wanted so long as i can pay for all of them?

Yes.

Ok thank you for clearing that up for me

NP, enjoy.
