Has anyone play tested a house rule of selling items back to the appropriate sellers? I was thinking half price rounded down.
Selling items
There's a location at the Kignsport board that lets you sell items.

Well I only have the base game.
Just take random encounters at the shop locations, and maybe you'll get lucky and they'll be interested in buying your stuff.
Personally I think part of the appeal of this game is making do with what hand you're dealt.
I have never seen a reason to sell any items. If I can't use them, I give them to a friend. If my friend cannot use them, I can always discard useless items instead of good ones.
I would not spend an encounter to sell items. Not worth it.
However, if you want, you can always make a houserule. Half price sounds good to me.
Do it just like at the King's Port location add it to the bank or something.
The original Arkham's Horror had the option to sell things (half price, round up, cannot sell $1 items) instead of an having an encounter at the Curiosity Shoppe and Hib's Roadhouse, so there's certainly the potential for having a house rule.
When I first started playing the second edition (which I enjoy so much more than the first, BTW), the lack of selling things was one thing I initially missed. Mainly because even though I freely trade items, there are still those times when you've got too many copies of the same thing (two handed weapon, two handed spell, whatever) even after trading around and lack the cash to try to get an elder sign. As time goes by, I've changed my mind, and hoard things so that when needed I have something to give a Rat Thing as needed...
Should clarify my previous post: by original Arkham's Horror I mean the 1987 edition.
