The Defender met my expectations, but after a game or two learning how to maneuver it. I'm actually used to 3 turns thanks to my interceptors, so I was able to weave through asteroids quite nicely. However, the Phantom exceeded my expectations in the matches I got to use it, over the course of two games singlehandedly or almost singlehandedly killing Biggs, Luke, Wedge, E'tahn, and Corran Horn, while He and Vessery went halfsies on Ten Numb. Though his loadout was points heavy, it gave him PS 9, eternal double target locks (and therefor giving Vessery eternal target lock as well) and ensured he cloaked again (almost always with a new Focus token) after hitting. Because it's very hard to miss a ship at range 1 with 5 attack dice, a focus and a target lock, especially if they have only 2 evade dice.
wave 4 excitement/expectations vs reality
For me the wave four ships are as good as any previous wave. The standouts that improve their factions dramatically are the TIE Defender and the Z-95 Headhunter.
Keep up the awesomeness FFG!

I've found the Phantom (especially Echo) to be a bit worse than I expected. But the E-Wing...OMG AWESOME! Love that ship! My two new favorite squads are Corran+EU, FCS, Wes + VI, and Wedge; and Blackmoon + AdvS x2 and Etahn + Predator. I expected to like it, but not to like it this much.
Ailowynn, could you right out those upgrades a bit more? I think I'd like to try out your lists and I'm not sure what the abbreviated upgrades are...

I'm curious, why the Defender and not the Phantom? (i have a reason I'm guessing but I want to hear yours first).
