Obligation Vaule and Instive slots

By zjungle, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Hi i have read the rule on this and i do not know where they are geting the vaule form.

any help would be nice.

All let me see if i under stand this

if I have a group of 5PCs and there faceing 3 NPC

The players will genrate 5PC slots and the NPC will gen 3.

Yer Obligation Value doesn't affect Initiative Slots.

For initiative, everyone rolls Cool (if a side isn't expecting a fight they roll Vigilance instead). The best roll is slot one, and any one character (or minion group) from that side may use it. Second best roll is slot two (and so on). Advantages count (1 success and 1 advantage is better than 1 success) and ties after these are counted favour the PCs.

If someone rolls a triumph on Cool, they get some strain back. If they rolled a triumph on Vigilance they get a free Maneuverer (so should probably get into cover or radio in or run away from the droid with the meat cleaver).

e.g.

PC1 rolls 3.1 (3 success, 1 advantage)

PC2 rolls 0.2 (0 success, 2 advantage)

PC3 rolls 3

NPC1 rolls 3

MinionGroup1 rolls 4

Slot 1 = a bad guy or minion group

Slot 2 = a PC (any of them - they gotta decide amongst themselves (procrastination favours whoever has dice in their hand))

Slot 3 = a PC

Slot 4 = a bad guy or minion group

Slot 5 = a PC

You can only act during one slot but can switch slots from round to round.

Standard starting obligation is 5 (which provides your base starting credits and a ship for the group) and then you can take additional obligation at character creation to get additional starting XP or credits.

The GM should adjust the amount of additional obligation you may take based on group size to prevent the group from starting with >100 obligation.

Obligation will change over play as players buy it down, use the narrative to justify its reduction, or voluntary have it go up to gain access to resources or adjust the story.

Obligation is an abstract concept which doesn't directly effect combat, except for when obligation is rolled up by the GM and everyone takes the strain penalty.
