Rebel 5+ ship builds

Given that we now have z-95s and the A-Wing refit will soon be upon us, how are "mini swarm" rebel builds being done?

I've had a couple of games & seem to be doing ok with:

Luke

Red

Red

Tala

Tala

Flys pretty much like 5 X wings with a little less attack & defend on one side.

Anyone else?

I'm looking to try XXXZZZ at my locals, but I am worried I'm going to be chewed up by the fifty million Phantoms everywhere. (I think. I can't see the slippery gits!)

The more dice you are throwing the better. The XXXZZZ list will have 15. That is the core of the swarms effectiveness. Coupled with the shields of the rebels you might have a pretty effective swarm. Time will tell how it works against the three agility ships without the Howlrunner support.

I did allright with a version of TalaDagger Nights (I always add a K to make it Knights, but the original forum name was Nights) SAturday that had 3 Talas and 2 Daggers, each with Advanced Sensors and Hull Upgrades.

If I had enough Z95s I'd give the following list a run:

Etahn A'baht + Advanced Sensors

Tala Squadron Pilot x5

13 Dice with the first hit converting to a crit. I've also considered dropping them to Bandits to kit out Etahn a bit more, but I was a bit worried about Predator. I could also drop two for Biggs, so Etahn isn't just focused immediately.

I ran an XXZZZZ list yesterday that did fairly well. Wedge, Red and 4 Bandits acquitted themselves nicely against a 5 TIE and 1 Phantom List and a buddy of mine who had some Variant of the Firespray and 2 Advanced.

There was talk of dropping one of the Z's to get a couple of upgrades (probably assault missiles to use against the TIE Swarm.

I generally believe that there will be a shift from the 4-Ship Rebel build to the 5 Ship thanks to the Z's.

I sort of envisioned them with a list light this: Biggs, 2 B's and 2 Z's with about 7 points or so to play with. You can add FCS on the B's or missiles on the Z's for the alpha strike. You are looking at 13 Base Attack dice with 29 Hit Points total. Not a bad start to a good list!

2x - Prototype with Chardaan Refit (15)

2x - HWK Rebel Operative with Blaster Turret, Recon Specialist (23)

2x - Z95

Or

2x - Prototype with Chardaan Refit (15)

2x - HWK Rebel Operative with Ion Turret (21)

1x - Z95 with Cluster Missiles (16)

1 x - Z95 (12)

I was looking at Wes Jansen, Red Squad, Blount with Assault Missile, 2x Tala.

You can sub out Wedge or even drop down to Garven to get the initiative.

Or further drop to Red X2 and give a second Z an Assault Missile and Munitions failsafe.

Tons of Combinations with the XXZZZ baseline.

I'm running my 3-2-1 squad this Saturday at the Quebec Regionals. It is a modified Jim Blakely build.

I tested it on friday with RunWildcat's list and it worked ok. I will test it again this Wednesday at our bi monthly x-wing group at Wizards tower.

I've been thinking of using a list of

4x Talas w/ Hull Upgrade

Etahn A'baht w/ Advanced Sensors

Not quite sure how well It would work though.

The idea is to use the Talas the same as the basic TIE mini-swarm with A'Baht as a flanker.

Chewbacca (42pts) Push the Limit (3pts), Recon Specialist (3pts), •Millenium Falcon (1pts), •Nien Nunb (1pts)

4x - Bandit Squadron Pilot (12pts)

I've had success with Dagger + AdvS x 2, GSP + Predator or Outmaneuver, Bandit Sq x 2. I've had fun with Tala + Conc Missiles x 4, Tala + Ion Pulse Missiles x 2.
