Introduced my wife to XWing today.. Lol

By Dieter122, in X-Wing

Hope she had fun.

My significant partner is a gamer as well and we do play X-Wing from time to time, though we tend to gravitate to other games when playing together. I get to play it - and game-craft lists - far more than her, going to tournaments and such, which has given me more experience and the matches less equal.

We have solved that with a system in which we started with 100 pts and each time one of us wins, the opponent gets a cumulative +10 points the next time we play and vice versa. So the next time we play I'll have 100 pts and she will have 120 pts. Makes for exciting matches and forces me to improve my flying skills to make up for fielding fewer points.

How does she float like that?

;)

She clearly has Force-powers. And even superior to Darth Vader's.

After all he can only choke people; this one is clearly breaking necks all over the Holonet, as they lean left to get a better look.

Luckily my significant other and I have a lot of converging interests.

Video games, WWII history, wargames, science fiction, strategy games, etc etc etc. It's a lot of fun.

Winner winner , chicken dinner there!

I quite agree

Not to brag, but my wife was cool enough to support my addiction by supporting me going to regionals 400 miles away, being away for two+ days... We have a 10 week old boy.

Huh, !

Well I'll be dammed. Some people on here do have great partners.

Wish mine was like that.

All my wife does is complain about how weird I am, and that no one in the family understands

A **** thing about all of those stupid things I own, also her mom says it's evil.

Then it progresses into how much of a loser, jerk, useless, piece of $#!/ that I am. Blah, blah, blah.

Take it slow, maybe she will get more interested and play more.

How many of your browny points did that cost?! You must have had a lot stashed up for that one.

I remember reading about a guy who found a nice loophole. He went and played games on Xbox Live and was raging into the microphone at various kids/idiots/noobs/etc. After two weeks of that and his partner getting fed up with it, she was quite happy when he said, "I think I'll stop playing the Xbox for a while and just paint some miniatures". She didn't bat an eye when he came home with $300+ AUD worth of miniatures to build and paint.

That's very tricksy. No brownie points, just needed to appreciate the nice gesture. She did admit she was a little exhasperated when I complained to her how tired I was from playing 12 hours of X wing though... Lesson learned: don't complain about playing a game for too long.

How did you think complaining about having fun was a good idea in the first place? :P

My wife for some reason stopped playing boardgames with me a couple years ago.

(We played all kind of stuff, MtG, Descent 1st Edition, Arkham Horror)

But she does play MMOs all day long on the PC, which is really boring.

She doesn't like Sci-Fi.

My son (10 yrs old) always says "that's unfair" as soon i shoot a ship down in X-Wing.

He gets the rules, but is far far away in using some kind of strategy in his gameplay.

If he loses, it's unfair again and never wants to play the game again.

If he wins (which only happens if i play like if i had no brain), he wants to play again.

He still doesn't get that X-Wing models aren't toys.

So my son annoys me, playing games with him is no fun at all.

My wife, well, she became very boring.

Luckily. My wife loves star wars, dr. who, and all Sci-fi. We play alot also, my 11 year old is now playing, and getting pretty good too.

Really? Your wife looks that good and all you want to do is Play X Wing?

What has happened to the world? I despair.

My wife plays (and wins a good bit of the time), but really doesn't like list building. So, I get to build two lists and she's happy to play (beat me). We like good two player games, but unfortunately there aren't that many that are fun to play over and over again.

My wife rolles her eyes everytime i go to play at our FLGS but i did get her to play 1 game with me she won and hasnt played since i think likes the idea that i havent won agianst her and she can tell others

NO! Leave the wimmen folk out of men's buisness. They should be cookin, cleanin, and child-raisin, while the men take care of important things. They don't need to be in the military, the work force or driving either. HAR-UMPH!

What about

Howl Runner and others!

Still have my fingers crossed that the missus will turn around and ask for a game one day!

For my wife

I gave her Han and Chewie and she likes it seeing the 360 is very forgiving

My wife was introduced to X-wing while reviewing the bank statements!

She has not caught the wave 4 one yet, I have an over/under of July 3 before she notices.

After giving me the cute stink eye for ordering more, she will play a game. She is quite good, but hates all the extra cards.

Now, my 8 year old daughter is a freaking genius when it comes to movement. I have no idea how she does it.
