Introduced my wife to XWing today.. Lol

By Dieter122, in X-Wing

Played the intro game with my wife this morning.

Instead of taking Skywalker I used a rookie pilot.

Until she got the hang of maneuvering, I had to fly using distance 1 or just did some easy turns for her.

Overall it went well. Took an hour. Mayyyyybe she'll play another game in the future with me if I am lucky.

I'm glad she now knows how the game plays, so when I goto the local store and play she knows how it works at least.

yep. got my wife to play 2 game with me since the game came out. She says she doens't mind playing, the thing is i can tell she really isn't into it. She's not debating the finer points of the game like blaster turret vs ion with me.. or to focus instead of tl ect.. It was fun though it's just not the same.

Hopefully your wife might get into it more than mine. Luckily I have a 2 year old son.. just have to hold out for oh 5 to 6 more years and ill be good to go!

Same here. Time will tell! Lol

My wife and I play a lot of games together- but not this one. League of legends? Oh yes. Thunderstone? She loves it. Munchkin? She's got all the expansions. But she just doesn't like Star Wars.

Guess we'll just have to try and have a kid or something. I hear that's fun too. ;)

How does she float like that?

;)

Did it take, is she getting that second Starter-set?

I've got two starter sets alrdy.

Does not like star wars, well that's grounds for divorce right there :P

Good for the OP. I might appear normal on the outside, but inside I'm just a big geek. My wife is not. I got her to play Wings of War once and LoTRs TCG once.

My 2 older kids are 10 and 8 and they like to play. Though they have no concept of combos, or maneuvering strategies; I did manage to teach them focus firing.

Maybe now she'll believe you when you're gone into the wee hours of the night.

Maybe so...

:P

My wife will only play because she knows it makes me happy (she's a sweetheart). But if I never asked her to play, she never would lol. She isn't a huge geek like me. But when she does play, she almost always beats me lol.

I got my gf into this game around February when I bought the first core set for my sons bday. 2 more core sets, both huge ships, and at least 2 of every ship later we play on avg 8-10 games a week. Started holding biweekly house tourneys with my son (timed with tournament FAQ rules) and can't get through a single date night without talking x wing. We both just went to our first tournament which was a regional where she flew outstanding with a 3 named squint list! She's completely hooked... And I'm the luckiest dude in x wing. Might have to keep this one.. Lol

Dude, if you let her go...

Can I have her number?

:P

Nice, uh, cross.

Trying to have a kid? Or playing X-Wing with a kid? Both?

I'm pretty sure he means making a kid.

"There is no try; only do or do not!"

"That's no valley. It's a cleavage!!"

Now, now kids. Behaveeee.

This is why we can't have nice things

OP has nice things, we're just... observing them.

I was writing a witty sexual inuendo for this thread, but could not clean it up enough.

But i will say this, if you can find a woman who at the very minimum excepts your hobbies and understands the joy you get out of it, you have a keeper. Just remember to recipricate the notion.

I think you'd probably rather have your woman accept your hobbies, rather than take exception with them.

Gave my gf an intro game. Couple of weeks later, we were deciding what game to play and I was expecting her to say "Ticket To Ride" as she usually does, and instead she says she wants to play X-Wing again! Score!

My GF is really a bad loser. In order for her to play I have to create the build and it better be a good one. She really hate to loose, we play MtG too... Last night we played and she was winning the game but she forgot about tapping one of my creatures and finally I ended up winning! She says: "That's it I am done with MtG and X-Wing and I will never play again" But she always end up playing the week after Lolo lol. I always get her to play again reminding her how close was the game and that it is not true that I always win! :-P

I am giving her builds with a proven track record and I am trying experimental stuff and she wins from time to time.

I've been contemplating that for 20 years now myself ;)
